At this year\'s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), held May 17-19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Dolby Laboratories showcases new and upcoming Sony PlayStation 2 and PC games developed in Dolby Digital 5.1 multichannel sound and Dolby Surround. These titles represent the state of the art in game sound.

Dolby will also feature its Virtual Incubator Program (VIP), designed to promote audio excellence in games incorporating Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital technology. The VIP program provides helpful materials to game developers, including talent and resource information, marketing support, and equipment data.

Several major developers have committed to using Dolby multichannel audio technology on more than 30 new titles for the PlayStation 2. Developers planning to release games in Dolby Digital 5.1 include Acclaim, Argonaut, ATD, Brain In A Jar, Criterion, Eidos, Infogrames, Jester, Microprose Motorsports, Rage, Sony Studios, and Squaresoft...

....but I can\'t honestly say I have ever been too hung over on Sound..
I doubt I\'ll ever notice the difference..

While I\'ve got my optimal sound system started (amp, cd, front tower), I dont\' have any good rear speakers... so as of yet, this won\'t help me a lot.  Of course... if it\'s good enough.. I can sacrifice for a while to get speakers :).

There is a Huge difference between stereo rear of DD and Mono rear of Pro Logic. I can\'t wait until they really incorporate this in games.  Silent Hill II would kick Bootay in DD.

I believe that Silent Hill 2 will use some sort of new technology. You get Surround sound with only 2 speakers! Now thats an innovation. We\'ll have to wait for it to be incorporated into TV programs, DVDs, ect :hold:

yea i can\'t wait till i get my Surround ound system all hooked up but it seems to be taking forever

I got mine set up.....I got the Cambridge Soundworks Playworks DTT2500 Digial that does Dolby 5.1,  man is it sweeet!  I got it hooked up through my PS2, My digital Cable and my VCR.....It has multiple inputs!  Man I love this thing.

Well so much for PS2 not being able to do DD in real-game scenarios. Can\'t wait. :) Love that 5.1 sound.
