sounds fun....but I\'ll believe it when I see it.

and I have never really been interested in games like Bandicoot, spyro, whatever...not even the recent mario games interest me.

maybe it\'s about time I change my mind? :)

After reading about the size of the levels that you explore, I think you should change your mind! My games collection always has room for 1 or 2 fun platformers anyway

VERY tidy... I like the sounds of it for sure...

Looking at the screenshots it\'s trademark naughty dog. What will be interesting to me is to see if die hard sony fans lash out at it for being "kiddy" due to it\'s appearance. I think it looks awesome.

I don\'t think it looks kiddie

It look more surreal to me. Same with Crash Bandicoot, but these games are designed to appeal to a broad range of age groups so kid friendly attributes are included

Dinosaur Planet looks Kiddie to me

I can\'t wait to get more info on Jak and Daxter

Love platformers to. Especially the free roaming ones like this. It sounds almost like a mix between something like zelda and somethin like rayman 2. I think it\'s gonna bring alot of unique new ideas to the genre though.

I don\'t think its a platformer, more like action adventure where you talked to NPC and townsfolk and exploration.

Naughty Dog did fullfill their promises.

Can\'t even use a proper quote system

Luigi  or Dinosaur planet didn\'t compare to the tease taste we got of Jak and Daxter

Nice try son, step aside or come back when you can actually grab yourself a clue

I got this off the IGN.Insiders boards

Dave from IGN put up this report

Quote
Our first impressions of Naughty Dog\'s Jak and Daxter were based on an earlier build of the game and honestly didn\'t do the game we saw today any justice. Though it\'s still something that shouldn\'t be considered revolutionary, as it\'s still just another 3D platform game at heart, extended playtime with the game today proved that it\'s not just your standard Mario-wannabe.

Simply put, Jak and Daxter is one of the best controlling 3D platform games that I\'ve had a chance to play. The precision of movement is just about as perfect as you can get and all of this is made even better because the animation of Jak and Daxter is as fluid as we\'ve ever seen in any videogame. There\'s never a single point in the animation of the character that you will notice a missing key frame, as everything seamlessly flows together.

The extra playtime with the newer build of the game also gave me a better chance to check out more of the game\'s 3D world, which proved to be even more massively scaled than I had previously thought. Naughty Dog has created this huge 3D world where the entire game takes place. There aren\'t different areas for each of the worlds like in most games of this type, instead everything in the world is right there in front of you.

And the world is not small either, as the basic island that the game takes place on is pretty massive in size and is filled with interactive elements that give the world a feeling of being truly alive and organic. Leaves and branches blow in the wind, birds fly around in the different areas, and if you\'re at the high-point in one area, you can see all of this in other areas at great distances.

Jak and Daxter might not be a revolutionary game as far as its genre is concerned, but some may argue that it is when you take into account that this is probably one of the first games around to have such a large fully realized world that the game takes place in completely.

What\'s more, the Jak and Daxter sports some excellent puzzle design. The extra time that we were able to play with the game today allowed us to see a greater variety of puzzles and all of the ones that I encountered were all vastly different, fairly creative and designed extremely well.

So, what you\'re getting with Jak and Daxter is a beautiful 3D platform game with a fully realized world, excellent characters, perfect control and cleverly designed and varied puzzles. While I don\'t want to begin hyping the game too early, but this has the potential to be one of the best 3D platform games of all time. It\'s already a substantial improvement over any of Naughty Dog\'s Crash games on PlayStation and looks to have what it takes to go up against the likes of Mario, Sonic, or Spyro in the 3D platform genre.

Despite not being nearly as enthused previously, Naughty Dog\'s Jak and Daxter has quickly become one of my personal most wanted games being released for PlayStation 2 this year. The wait appears to be well worth it.

Have you guys checked out the movies of J&D already? I recommend you do because they look sweeeeeeeet :D

...except for the crappy round shadow... I remember reading that there were supposed to be real-time shadows in the game. Maybe they\'ll be adding them later.
