After looking at all the game cube screens and video\'s and getting the facts, it seem as if GC is not as powerful as we thought.
It turned out that Metroid and Donkey Kong Racing (two best looking GC games ever shown) were pre-rendered movies.
Metroid and DKC pre-rendered shot with motion blur:

here is another pre-rendered shot oh Metroid

Super Smash Pro real-time shot. If you look at closely at the pic you will see for instance the water effects are bland, and dull. Also there is jaggies around Donkey Kong and the tress, the backround is seems to be flat, just look at the tress and the characters are not very detailed.

Well hopefully all this will be improved around launch, cause if this is what nintendo has in store ,then they have a **** load of work to do. Right now i will wait to see the rest of E3 in order to get a better idea of what Nintendo has up there sleves.
It\'s really to early to make judgement, but most of the GC games all have kiddy colorful looks to them.
-
Well the Metroid and DKR are obviously prerendered (unlike what Kituka said in the "THE DEFINITIVE THREAD for excellent E3 PS2 and GC games" thread). Super Smash Bros 2 is probably the best looking game for the NGC so far(IMO). Luigi\'s Mansion is also looking good. The NGC is definitely still a kiddie console though, and for that reason, I am not interested in it.
-
heh TheOgodlyThing,don\'t be so scared and paranoid :) j/k....actually like you the GC showings haven\'t totally impressed me either,i\'ve only been impressed by one GC title so far (RS2),i guess i\'m too grown up now to get all giddy-girly over Donkeykong / Mario & Luigi, plus the like...Metroid could be very cool, but not enough shown yet. the same thing occured with the Xbox to me too though, nothing really sticks out except Halo and so far what has been seen of it is not the mind blowing game every Xbox fan said it was going to be. maybe all the PS2 hype was right afterall??..hmmm..hehee
-
Are you all daft??? Starfox, Luigi, Eternal Darkness, and that Smash Bros shot even all look *great*! I\'m going to pester EB this weekend about reserving both GC and XB. If you aren\'\'t convinced by the shots thus far, just wait \'til E3\'s finished.
-
The game looks a lot better in action. Just download this and see for yourself.
http://movies.nintendo.com/smash_long_export.mov
Good, but nowhere near the quality of the Luigi video I posted.
-
Don\'t forget MeTaL=DeaTh
XBOX is still running on phase 2 beta kits(50 % of XBOX\'s power), developers are probably getting the final dev kits some time after E3
-
if you want a kiddie console Ethugg, have at it! :D the games will probably be lots of fun though, but i never said i will write it off, just not crazy bout the legendary Nintendo kiddie type of games like some people are...i will wait when more games suited to my tastes are announced / made.
-
God damnit.
Im getting so sick of that "Running on %50 power" excuse.
The launch of the Xbox is like 5 months away.
Do you think they are going to get those dev kits and make games within those 5 months.
And thats if its released today.
Now, So far Im impressed with the XBox, but please STOP using the 50% power crap.
Sometimes I think MS just says that to excuse bad looking Photos, or when they dont live up to expectations.
-
Now, So far Im impressed with the XBox, but please STOP using the 50% power crap
Oh gee, i\'m sorry for pointing out the facts, unfortunaly tiss the truth. Wheater or not the developers have a enough time to take adavntage of it, which i\'m sure they will, the fact of the matter remains that xbox will be equipped with the NV2A, a chip that is much more powerful than the one being currenlty used to develop the games. So just imagine how much more powerful the games will become.

ok,so when will we see the games running on completed hardware then? honestly i don\'t think the games will be that much different than how you see them today (except for added textures & effects). the expected "mind-blowing" graphics probably won\'t happen until next year, but then PS2 / GC games will be at another level of graphic heights,so there still won\'t be this amazing leap you and other Xbox fans are hoping for over PS2. i\'m the skeptic here on this forum and will remain so until proven otherwise :)
-
Microsoft stated a few months ago that they have already STARTED producing the Xbox for the consumer market. If this is so, and the NV2A isnt released yet, are the first set of Xbox\'s not going to have to NV2A in it.

LOL, were do you come up with this stuff. The developers such as EA etc.. said 3-4 days ago that they did not yet recieve the NV2A, also MS said that HALo and the other games shown at E3 are not going to be running on FINAL DEV KITS
As for the XBOX not shiping with the NV2A, well that\'s dumbest thing i\'ve ever heard.

starting production could be the making of the cases controller the intial circuit boards and PIII processor the HD and ethernet adapter
and then add the Nvidia chip as it rolls off its production lines.
Also MS announced 1 month ago that Final Dev kits we\'re being shipped.
We\'ll see, Xbox definelty has some strengths in the graphic departments
as for GC, so far its a mixed bag for me. I\'ve never been a Nintendo fan so my opinion is definelty biased, but so far I haven\'t seen enough realtime in game screens of the games I would be interested in
I\'m sure things will be more clear in a day or 3
-

don\'t we all wish, too bad they have not recieved them yet.

yep that\'s right smart -ass, start a flame war. I love it how you completly avoid the topic, cause you have nothing else better to say, than to just waste peoples time. Either yoo stick to the topic are don\'t even bother posting.
Also if I am a fanboy as you say, than it obviously takes one to know one.
Priority Mail takes a day
Tell that to EA, Bungie, the makers of MUCH etc.... i\'m sure they would love to hear your insight on the matter, as well as MS.
-
Are you all daft??? Starfox, Luigi, Eternal Darkness, and that Smash Bros shot even all look *great*!
Werd. What\'s up with these people? Don\'t they see that these games positively look amazing with the exception of Waverace and Dinosaur Planet?

Why not MS said they we\'re ready a month ago !!!!They also said they met there promise to have these kits in Devs hands before E3
Doesn\'t mean Devs have had a chance to get them up and the code running on them but as far as I understand dev\'s have begun receiving them
-
Wave Race looks great in movement... Hell, the original still looks gorgeous IMO.
Anyway, it\'s interesting to see that some aren\'t impressed by what\'s out there. By and large it all looks fantastic, but it\'s still kind of like: "eh..."
Aside from Madden, nothing has really stood out for me from any of the three consoles (although I haven\'t seen much of Xbox yet)

Thats the exact point Im trying to make here, but all OGodly does is make smartass comments.
They should have them by now.
They should have at lease Demos running off them for E3.
But they dont.
They keep delaying it like its the 64DD.
-
Doesn\'t mean Devs have had a chance to get them up and the code running on them but as far as I understand dev\'s have begun receiving them
I hear you man, but what can you do, I hope to GOD they got them today or yesterday. Even if they did we wont see them anywhere E3. LIke i was saying EA said they don\'t don\'t have them yet, same goes for Much. Also MS said "we wont see any games at E3 running on final dev" and that is the key point here that i have been trying make. People who are expecting to see XBOX games running on final dev kits this E3 are kidding themselves.
Thats the exact point Im trying to make here, but all OGodly does is make smartass comments.
No all you do is make smart ass comments, and then turn them around on me. I explained why already, are you the HEAD of EA or the Maker of MUCH. No i didn\'t think so yet here you are playing GOD dictating what is what. These companys a week ago said they didn\'t have them, EA said a week ago they didn\'t have them. Which brings us to the next point
They should have at lease Demos running off them for E3
No they shouldn\'t, if you weren’t such DUMB ass you\'d realize this. Go back and read

Personally I think the GameCube is doing quite well to live up to my expectations - the only title I have to look at to impress is Faction 5\'s Rogue Squadron 2, the amount of detail and overall quality of the environments shown in the screenshots is stunning. I wonder if F5 is still working on that remake of Turrican :)_

Wave Race looks great in movement... Hell, the original still looks gorgeous IMO.
I still think the water effects on the in-game vids look like an N64 game. Only when they show the replays does it look decent, but even then I still don\'t like the look of it.
-
I still think the water effects on the in-game vids look like an N64 game
Fair enough. I wonder if that\'s part to blame for giving the N64 engine to a different company. Maybe they got a hold of it and went, "uhhh..."
Who knows? Either way though, pretty or not, I can\'t wait to get this one. It should still be a blast, no?

The facts:
-Developers DO have final kits.
-Final systems are IN production.
-None of the games have been ported to final kits for E3 as far as we know.
-None of the launch titles will use the FINAL kits potential. And that\'s ok, none of PS2 or GCs 1st gen games use the full potential either.
-If the games are poor now, they will likely be POOR at launch, unless they have a lot of hardworking and talented programmers who are working nonstop. Sorry, but unfinished kits are no excuse. Push the unfinished kit further to compensate, or deal with having a crappy game.
-
Developers DO have final kits
Give me the link, saying they do. Why i ask like i said many times EA said 4-5 days ago they did not have them, also Much said the same. Now if they got them 2-3 days before, that still dosen\'t change the argument, thus it based on the fact that just as MS said offically none of the XBOX games will be running on the NV2A at E3.
Also correct me if i was wrong but 3-4 weeks ago when the NV2A was produced, then implemented into the final dev kit ,it CRASHED!!! remeber??? So that\'s probably why it took some time. Also MS may have gotten a few chips to a few dev days before E3, but what good is that.
-
Well if your dissapointed with GC you must think PS2 is crap cause GC sure does kick its ass. Have you seen the Raven Blade movie? OMG!!
The Naughty Dog game is a f***ing joke!
-
The Naughty Dog game is a f***ing joke
Agreed, but GC I think has a ways to go, though i\'m confident that Nintendo will give us some kick ass games. I think we should reserve our judgment for the rest of E3 were will get to see what Nintendo is made of, same goes for the rest.

Is Raven Blade FMV or realtime gameplay
The Naughty DOg game looks downright sweet to me, but a couple of fanboy Zealots like you would never allow themselves to admit a SOny game kicks ass
Nice try N-Flower
step aside now
-
Well DDaryl the The Naughty DOg game could turn out to be good like any other game, but see the reason why this game gets picked on sooo hard is cause Jason Rubin set him-self up. I\'m sure you know the whole story, so i Needed mention it.
-
The Naughty Dog game sounds cool as hell.
OGodly, it actually sounds kinda of like Munch, in that it has an entire world to play in instead of levels.
It seems interesting to me.

could be, if it\'s good i\'ll pick the game up.
PS. sorry for being a little of an ass back in the other thread, jst that i was on a roll, you know how it is. PEace out

Its cool.
Thanks for the apology though.
It raised my respect gauge for you.
Ill try not to be an ass as well.
I can get kinda condenscending when I argue.

Set himself up how ??????????????????
Oh I know Jason said Lorne is a cry baby. Is there some untruth to this. Lorne could\'ve gotten Munch to run nicely on the PS2 but he whined and cried to the media about it being too hard for wittle old worne :crying:
Jason just stepped up and said the PS2 is capable and without a doubt his money is were his mouth is.
The game is close to what I expected from ND so far I\'m very stoked. The game in its teaser form ad so so screens looks EXTREMLY PROMISING
and action adveture game with plaformer mixed in.
N_Flower here is just an arrogant N head to arrogant to admit ND has a great game that will easily chalenge any Nintendo platformer

Don\'t forget what he said about XBOX and also his comments on GS

LOL, he did whine, but i felt it was for a good reason. Now could he have had it run nice on PS2, well Lorne didn\'t think so. Anyhow it\'s over with, but you must admit JASON RUBIN has Sony\'s money spiting out of his mouth, not say many other developers arn\'t in the same shoe.

I was going by this here ( http://www.msxbox.com/php/full_post.php3?id=1138 ) but I re read it and realized that that was older, and it may not have happened. Sorry, but the other thing I said stand, especially the last thing.
-
thanks Ethugg, yes i have seen that link before, but i don\'t know if you were refrering to me about what i said how the chip crashed.
If so yes, they did complete the chip but when they tested it in the developer kit, sadly it crashed.
Therefore I\'m guessing that it took longer, as we can see from EA and Lorne Anderson’s comments, that final dev\'s took longer to ship. Not all XBOX dev have the chips, some they may have gotten more this couple of days, who knows, Hopefully tomorrow or throughout E3 will get info. I hoping and betting that by that time all the dev will have chips. They only have 5 mouths to finished and tweaks those games for the NV2A

that\'s what i think too about the whole matter, but as far as the Jak game goes,i haven\'t seen enough of it to give an real opinion on,screens too small...is there large pics of it around now?

Whats a GS, thats SOny\'s Grapic Sythesiser or GS Cube ????
Of Course Jasons spewing the company line. but to say he deserves some negativity for that instead of praise for whats is shaping to up to be a cool game with ND\'s style
I really like what I read so far

Goto IGN.com.
Thy have nice pics.

Well turns out that some parts of Raven Blade are FMV.
DDaryl if SFA looks kiddie then so does ND game.
MGS2 and GT3 are the only good looking games so far. I´ll repeat it, the Naughty Dog game is a joke!
Nice try with the N-flower thing, better luck next time.
-
The Naughty Dog game is going to kick some serious ass N-Flower Power
Its just your stereotypical Nintendo Zealot arrogance that keeps you from actually being able to remove your head from your ass long enough to realize it
Jak and Dexter are no more Kiddie then Crash Bandicoot, and Crash was a sweet series.
Dinosaur Planet looks like Pokemon.
and I\'m not the one who goes around calling Nintendo Kiddie even though they obviously cater to the young ones much much more then anyone else
Arrogance is not bliss son

To each his own;
I\'ve been watching TechTV .. And these are a few of the games I\'ve managed to take a glimpse @.
Halo - Sue me, it looked ok. Not only was the framerate @ 30 (we all know the arguments) but it also dropped from time to time. Disappointing for me, and I never cared for Halo.
Luigi\'s Mansion - Saw it for like 30 seconds maybe? .. Looked nice. Again, I wasn\'t blown away, but the lighting was amazing. I just wonder how fun sucking ghosts into a vacuum is gonna be. The rooms in the mansion have lots of little detail and look very promising.
Jak and Dakster - They showed it briefly, for like 20 seconds if anything.. and despite what all you haters out there say, this game looks nice. The enviroments are huge and have tons of stuff going on. Framerate is 60 w/o a hitch, and the character animations are very smooth. Lighting looked great as well. Can\'t comment much on the textures, what they showed looked dark and not very vivid.
FFX - They had an interview with a representative from Square.. during the little talk she was playing FFX, and it too looked great. Nothing really that we haven\'t seen already. The transition to battles looked kinda neat, and it didn\'t take long @ all to load. The screen shatters as the battle starts.. and from what I can tell the game is running @ a lovely 60fps. :D They showed a few summons and that\'s about it. Can\'t really comment too much.
The point of my post was that people are dissing Jak and Dakster when I think the game looks damn nice. I was working yesterday and I didn\'t even know TechTV was covering E3 (doh!) ... I didn\'t work today so luckilly I can watch and tape whatever they show of e3 today. The show begins like in 4 hrs so I can\'t wait to watch.
I\'ll post some impressions later of whatever they show. They just showed Abe (for xbox) -- right now -- looked good. :) (60fps too) Incase you haven\'t noticed framerate is very important to me.

...why are you so obsessed by PS2 (potentially) beautiful games? ...you said Naughty Dog game could turn out to be good like any other game ...Jak and Daxter is NOW a beautiful 3D platform game with a fully realized world, excellent characters, perfect control and cleverly designed and varied puzzles...and it could turn out to be one of the most wonderful Platform ever !
Look at what Dave Zdyrko(ps2.ign) think about this game :
""Simply put, Jak and Daxter is one of the best controlling 3D platform games that I\'ve had a chance to play. The precision of movement is just about as perfect as you can get and all of this is made even better because the animation of Jak and Daxter is as fluid as we\'ve ever seen in any videogame. There\'s never a single point in the animation of the character that you will notice a missing key frame, as everything seamlessly flows together.
The extra playtime with the newer build of the game also gave me a better chance to check out more of the game\'s 3D world, which proved to be even more massively scaled than I had previously thought. Naughty Dog has created this huge 3D world where the entire game takes place. There aren\'t different areas for each of the worlds like in most games of this type, instead everything in the world is right there in front of you.""
""So, what you\'re getting with Jak and Daxter is a beautiful 3D platform game with a fully realized world, excellent characters, perfect control and cleverly designed and varied puzzles. While I don\'t want to begin hyping the game too early, but this has the potential to be one of the best 3D platform games of all time. It\'s already a substantial improvement over any of Naughty Dog\'s Crash games on PlayStation and looks to have what it takes to go up against the likes of Mario, Sonic, or Spyro in the 3D platform genre.""

The Game has a Great Potential so don\'t be a Troll and admit it ! (no offense)

BizioEE, DUDE you quoted the wrong person!

I personally am not amazed with the GameCube as much as I am with the Xbox. WaveRace looks like poo-poo in my opinion and I\'m tired of the pre-rendered Metriod stuff they have been showing. The rest of the games look good, like Lugi\'s Mansion, the lighting effects are awesome. But still, I haven\'t seen anything that just screams "buy me". I\'m hoping Capcom will show us Resident Evil Zero before the end of E3, that will be the one title that makes me purchase a GC.
It hasn\'t lived up to my expectations *so far*, but there is alot of time for Nintendo to show some killer games. And either way, I\'ll end up buying one.

Hehe! You tell´em Gohan. Not much more needed to say.
