I your opinion what do you think was game of the show at e3.
I say mgs2, dmc, silent hill 2, jax and dexter, doa3, halo, oddworld, rouge squardon 2, luigi manson(even though i didn\'t think it looked that great), ff 10, and shenmue 2. What do you guys think?
-
Well if you mean gameS of show it\'s not a very difficult question. Now if you were referring to a single game then it\'s a very tough call. So I\'ll just divide it up by consoles.
I\'d say it has to be something that was playable on the showfloor because things will get a little crazy if you count all of the games present in video form.
Nintendo: Pikmin (yeah sue me)
Sony: Jak and Daxter: The Presomthing Something
X-Box: Munch\'s Big O (hehe) easily.
PC: Don\'t know. Looking at all the fine PC games just makes me depressed about my PC, I\'d rather avoid that feeling.
DC: Don\'t know. I\'d say Shenmue 2, but the playable stuff was mostly sports games, not my bag.
-
i wasnt at the show and havent seen everything from the show, but as far as im concerned, its Jax and Daxter
this has got to be the first show ever where MGS2 didnt have much hype behind it, gotta be because of the demo released with ZOE, took away a lot of all the expectation (not saying people are lessa excited, just not as desperate for info)
-
As far as the Nintendo side of things, I\'d say Raven Blade.
I liked Halo for MS, butI haven\'t looked too much into the PS2 to judge.
-
Sony: Jak & Daxter or MGS2
MS: Halo or DOA3
Nintnedo: Super Smash Bros. 2 (Now THAT looks fun) or Luigi\'s Mansion
Dreamcast: Shenmue2 or Headhunter
PC: Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Those are my votes.
-
I\'m voting Jak and Daxter for sony, it looks very impressive, definitely going to be a credit to the PS2 when it\'s finished, also FFX and WO:Fusion justbecause I\'m a huge fan
For the Nintendo, Luigi\'s mansion looked excellent, and thought I\'mm not a fan of the first, only good reviews have come of the showing of SSB2
Xbox had halo.... but not a great deal more that impressed me. Jet Grind radio looks to be shaping up nicely though
-
Headhunter was at e3?!?!!? yay!! I cant wait to see this game running on my tv :)
IMO, the game of the show should have to be playable, thus marking out nearly all of those choices above. Your guess is as good as mine. This is NO blowout like last years ass stomping courtesy of Sega.
Eric Jacob
-
HeadHunter WAS at E3... right? I could have sworn I saw some coverage of it on TechLive. Anyhow, if it wasn\'t at E3.. then it should have been, cause from all I\'ve seen and read it\'s going to be one hell of a game. 18 Wheeler Pro Trucker and Propeller Arena looked awesome too.
BTW: Did you see the movie of ToeJam & Earl 3? I really think they could have done a lot more with the Dreamcast\'s hardware, but the game still looks pretty sweet gameplay wise.
-
my favorite game announced at the show was Tenchu 3, its only 8% complete but IGN got to play it behind doors and said it was shaping up to be nice, more like Tenchu than Tenchu2
-
I dont know, none of the sites are covering it. Probably cause ega has like 100 games at e3.
Yes I dled the TJ&E3 movie! Saweet!
\'yo, funkify!\'
hehehe, some tof the stuff, like the trees looked very good, but i will be happy if it just plays lioke the original.
Eric Jacob
-
Errr... I saw/heard about more than 50 games I\'d buy w/o trying, so I couldn\'t narrow it down in any way. :)
-
I couldn\'t possibly judge fairly without actually being there and seeing all this stuff side by side
-
Sue me, I\'m a sucker for Mario and Lugi, so I am personally amazed by Lugi\'s Mansion... Oh yeah, and Jet Grind Set Future. It may not look that great yet, but I\'m positive it will be an excellent game.
-
My vote goes to Jak and Daxter ! This Game has an amazing potential !
-
I\'ve been following the Nintendo stuff closest. I feel that overall, Luigi will have the biggest impression mainstream. Personally, however, I am most intrigued by Pikmin.
-Eik
-
Tony Hawk\'s Pro Skater 3
-
I think Rogue Leader made the biggest impression with the people at E3 and it is the game that I am looking forward to the most. I think either Rogue Leader or Smash Brothers will get game of show.
-
I agree with Gohan. Rogue Leader just looked plain spectacular. I saw all the movie clips from ign and I was totally amazed. I\'ll be surprised if it doesn\'t turn out to be game of the show.
-
well for me it was defintely either
Tony Hawk 3 or Halo or Rouge Sqaudren or hell the list goes on
-
Rogue Leader is impressive. You gotto check out the latest movies. The force will be with me come this fall. IMO (at least from where I\'m sitting) Rogue Leader is the game of the show but then again I havent checked out each game fully yet.
Jak and Dexter looks interesting but I\'m not sure yet. I gotta check out the movies for this game.
-
In my opinion it was Eternal Darkness, but that\'s just me. The real game of the show was Luigi\'s Mansion.

You think so? I would probably say SSB: Melee before Luigi. Why do you think Luigi was game of the show?

Well, judging from various gaming web-sites, it appeared to be drawing in the biggest crowds so that kind of makes it the game of the show.
Super Smash Bros: Melee(a great looking a game) drew in some big crowds too, perhaps even bigger ones. But I mostly read that Luigi\'s Mansion had the most people waiting to play it so that\'s why I chose it.

Holy Crap look at this:

Either the xbox is effing huge or the GCN is mighty small.:D
In all fairness that is one of the foam GCNs given out by Nintendo. Apparently you can almost fit 4 GCNs inside the Xbox and almost 2 PS2s. Now that is big.
-

God that pic is hilarious! The Xbox is so friggin\' huge it\'s histerical! God it\'s bigger than my computer...
Now you know how Nintendo came up with this ad.

For me it has to be the Devil May Cry.
Before E3 i prefered Resident Evil CV more but not now.
oh and Jumpman & Gohan.....
it is pritty big isn\'t it.....
-
Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The xbox is huge I"m still going to get one. I don\'t know where I\'m going to put it at. That thing makes ps2 look small.

I really don\'t know what was game of the show. I\'d say Metroid, but of course, that was FMV (which shows how far behind it is). The game that looked coolest to me, personally, would have to be Star Fox Adventures..
That\'s really just on the Nintendo front, though. Xbox, I\'d have to say Project Gotham or JGR:Future (though that wasn\'t in the Xbox booth..). And with PS2, probably.. bleh, I dunno :)
Either the xbox is effing huge or the GCN is mighty small.
I\'d say it\'s a combination of each.
-
No way in hell was Luigi game of the show. I\'ve watched 3 or 4 videos and it looks like standard Mario affair with some prettier graphics
and Eternal Darkenss seemed real lame to me, I watched a few videos but besides a high polygon main character and great textures not much really that much to be hyped about from what I\'ve seen
Jak and Daxter was way more impressive, the tremendous scope of the game, the completely animated world, was significantly better then any other plaformer shown at E3. The game is just not being comprehended by alot of people on just how big and how much is happening simultaneously in real time.
RS2 looks great but MGS2 still is more impressive IMO
Baldurs Gate DA also looked incredible and plays very smooth, the 45mb gameplay movie I watched had me drooling.
XBox definelty had some cool stuff as well but not enough really ready to be shown off.
These are my opinion so lets not attack me to hard. The more and more I read previews and watch movies the more I feel SOny had the better show. This doesn\'t mean that GC wasn\'t great in its own or Xbox even in its positive moments. Its just that SOny had alot of games that haven\'t fully been previewd or shown off in the press cause they\'ve been known about for considerable time.

Heh, it looked better than Jak and Dexter hands down.

What? I thought that game was one of the few GameCube games that you were intrigued by.
Anyhoo, I take it you don\'t know too much about it. Read this preview and some impressions on the game and lets see if you still have the same opinion afterwards.

Sure Luigi was confined in a room to room adventure where High polygon models are used. Jak and Daxter is this humongous scope of a game divides its polygons for as far as the eye can see and all that can be seen can be interacted with. Everything alive and well animated.
This is what I expect from some people not grasping the sheer scope and technical brillance that is Jax and Daxter. The game has a heluva alot going on all the time and thats no minor acheivement
Luigi looks great but in comparison. J+D is way more involved IMO.

Raven Blade is one I\'m entrigued by. I got some things mixed up. I downloaded a Eternal Darkness Video from Gamespot and I can\'t say it looks exciting. I\'ll have to see more, but after that video all I could think of is how cool Soul Reaver and Blood Omen look in comparison. for adventure games
Thats cool your not trying to start nothing cause neither am I. I did like some GC stuff but most of it I could get on the PS2.
We\'ll just have to agree to disagree. but Luigi like all Mario games just doesn;t seem to interest me.
-

Really? Funny that there\'s no jump button. It resembles what a Mario game might look like graphically, but the game is innovative to say the least. It appears that\'s Nintendo\'s goal, and it\'s about damn time. I had started to think we\'d seen all the gaming possibilities out there.
Speaking of innovation, the whole insanity, play-with-the-head-of-the-gamer thing in Eternal Darkness really sets it apart from something like Raven Blade for me. Raven Blade looks like standard Mar-- err, horror affair to me. With ED, the character begins "hallucination" but you don\'t know it yet and continue on normally until heads start popping off and walls start bleeding. Then you "wake up" back where it started, realizing at the same time as your character that your most recent efforts were for nothing. That\'s cool.

Uhhh, Munch does the same things, and was just as good looking. I will be getting J&D, no doubt, but it\'s just a hop n bop. Munch has much more going for it with being able to posess other characters, and talking with other characters. In addition to the run n jumping hopping n bopping.

Word! That\'s what I\'m talking about!
This game, in my opinion, is the next leap with the survival horror genre. I mean that feature creates a whole new window for developers.
I\'m more interested in it\'s story. I have a feeling that it will be great. After all, the game is 40-60 hours in length. THAT\'S 7-12 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF A TYPICAL HORROR GAME!
This game is on my must buy list and it\'s right sitting on top at position number 1.
-
I\'ll have to read more info on the eternal darkness games, can\'t tell all that from an mpeg
sounds more interesting now. Those links above didn\'t work for me

Because there\'s no jump button its innovative ?????
I\'ve still yet to see whats innovative about Luigi\'s mansion after all the screens and movies I\'ve seen on top of reading this preview

Heh, it looked better than Jak and Dexter hands down.
Nah, seeing both in motion I\'d say Jak and Dakster has much more going on than those stale rooms in Luigi\'s mansion. (which I\'ll be buying anyway)
The point? An opinion isn\'t a fact.

No, because there\'s no jump button it isn\'t standard Mario affair, obviously.
And you\'re right, it\'s not really that innovative. It\'s just like all the other games set up like Resident Evil, played like Turok, themed after Ghostbusters, and featuring a Nintendo storyline.
Seriously, it\'s not ground-breaking, but is is a new concept (i.e. there hasn\'t been a game like it before). For a better showing of innovation, though, look to Pikmin, I guess...

Still... the graphics in Luigi\'s Mansion are just plain phenomenal. It\'s still the better LOOKING game from a graphical standpoint. And yes, I\'ve seen both in action.
I\'ve already experienced sheer scope and technical brilliance with Zelda:OOT and MM thank you. ;) But I\'ll admit it, J&D does look pretty impressive.I\'ll have to read more info on the eternal darkness games, can\'t tell all that from an mpeg

In there somewhere is a preview of the game. You should be a little more interested in it just after reading that. I sure was.
-
Welp I\'m still unimpressed with Luigi\'s mansion.
Graphically ND could\'ve thrown together a room to room adventure and made the graphics look 5x\'s as amazing as J+D
As for Zelda I agree the worlds we\'re huge. The story in O.T. and the kiddie type worlds turned me off from Zelda.
On to Eternal Darkness. The game sounds interesting but details are too thin. Pretty much all I could get from that preview is multiple characters multiple ways to unfold the storylne which gives it replay value. All the effects they talk about are standard fair on next gen platforms so it doesn\'t really jump out and make me say wow.
I\'m sure lots more details will be released in the near future

This is the kind of stuff I don\'t understand. You say that Zelda is kiddie but you don\'t think J & D is kiddie? How is that?

This is too easy
1st your a Elf and you have a fairy
2nd all the cutesy looking elf people in the early part of the game
3rd the ROck people where you go doen in the cave play the ocarania and that rock creature does his little dance. (This is were I threw up)
4th the games dialog and talking to NPC had some moments of feeling extremly kiddie like the some of the rock creatures
I don\'t remember much more but I do remember there were more similiar incidences in Zelda that made me not care for it. I also never finished the game cause it didn\'t draw me in at all
To me Jak and Daxter looks more like a cartoon (I love cartoons) to me, Daxter will do all kinds of funny animation just like Crash did. Crash had kid appeal but Crash\'s attitude his world just appealed to me more.
We can argue this all day but Nintendo just has a way of making there games unappealing to me. This could be changing but I won\'t know for awhile

That\'s pure speculation I certainly disagree with that. Luigi\'s Mansion had so much more going on that you think. The rooms were extremely detailed and very realistic. Nintendo spended some time with this game.

Alright, I am looking at the games. One is on the N64 and the other is on the PS2. They BOTH look like cartoons.
Funny animations? WTF? Like jumping and spinning? And what world? Crash was a platformer game on rails.
Your whole argument just doesn\'t make much sense. Your an elf wit ha faerie? In J&D you are a colorful cartoon character with a cute little animal on your shoulder. Is their a BIG differance?
I have not seen anything in any of the shots that is not designed as a cutesy character.
Rock people dancing is kiddy? You can\'t be serious. How is that anymore kiddy than someone like Homer dancing?
I just don\'t understand how you make the distinction that Zelda is kiddier than J&D. When the have a lot of the same elements and I\'ll even venture out there and say that J&D will probably steal some elements from Zelda: OOT
