I was watching Techtv Week In Review, and they were talking about the new relationship Sony/AOLTW. One person said that the reason AOL is teaming up is to get back at Microsoft and try to make them fail, with this new project. But what will this new relationship bring to the gaming industry, I think this is more about who gets on top, than caring about what the consumers think. Sony wants to make sure they stay on top, while Microsoft will try to get on top. What\'s next for Microsoft and who will they team up with.
Sony:
AOL Time Warner
Squaresoft
Real Networks
Pizza Hut
Microsoft:
Oddworld
Burger King
I feel Microsoft is going to shack the world on who is partnering with them.
What has the gaming world finally come too, but I guess Sony had to do what they had to do, to make sure they are insurred. Sony could have founded any ISP, but they had to choose AOL TIME WARNER, but why.
Here is my scenerio:
Better advertisment through Time Warner cable, which is the biggest cable provider.
Making sure they have a good friend in need.

Dont forget SEGA and NAMCO.
They are also teaming up with S O N Y!

-
Namco and Sega are also teaming up with Nintendo and Microsoft so I don\'t see your point...

I didnt know that.
Anyways, its gonna be sweet playing SOCOM, FFXI, Twisted Metal ONLINE, THPS3 ONLINE, GT4!
I need to go polish my PS2 some more ;)

Not to mention Cisco for improved internet software, Netscape for their browser, and Linux for their Dev kit OS. I also remember something about them partnering with Nokia or some other moble phone service.. but we won\'t see the fruits of that partership since the deal only applies to Japan. The Americas, Europe, Africa, and Austrailia are too far behind in their cellular networks to use them for broadband gaming.

OK ONE MORE TIME I WILL EXPLAIN THE SONY-AOL/TIMEWARNER MERGER
Sony is allied with AOL/TimeWarner b/c AOL/TW is currently lobbying with the US Government on a "legal" way to trade mp3s/music over the internet. Once they have this, the PS2 will be their launching platform.
Boom...the 2nd coming of Napster.

AlteredBeast, IBM, Toshiba and Sony have signed a 400 million dollar deal to develope the next chip technology that\'s going to be used in PS3 and other next gen products. This is pretty old news.
-
Sony has never said that this chip will be used for the PS3
-
Ok maybe they didn\'t but I think it\'s highly probable.
We\'ll have to wait and see...
