ok i am going to bring an american ps2,and i have a converter for my jap DC,the converter has this writing on it:
LPHA ART
220v to 100v
Suitable for:
PC-FX,Sega Saturn,Playstation &all other electronic appliances.
input:AC 200V-240V 50/60Hz
output:AC 100V
Will this be ok,because i heard a little while ago that the ps2,draws more power,is this true?or do you think the converter i have will be fine,my Jap Dc works fine.

It should work, just make sure it has 100Watts or more.
Take another look at your converter ,the Watt writing should be there also.
The more Watts it has, the cooler it stays ,the longer it lives.Don`t use it if it has less than 100W - it might damage both ,converter and console.
Mine has 200W and stays cool even when I play for hours straight.
Here`s the complete writing:
KXT-200
Input220V / 240VAC 200W 60Hz
Output 110/120VAC 60Hz

Thanks for replying Macabre,it says:
input:AC 200V -240V 50/60Hz
output:100V
so that should be ok,shouldnt it?

Mmmmmh, there is no writing about how many Watt it has ? That´s strange. The Voltage is ok but the Max. level of Watt is very important.
If your PS2 sucks more power than your converter can deliver , at least the converter is history. And when that happens it could be your PS2 gets the full 240V instead of 110V....
If I didn`t know how many power my converter had, I would not risk it.But that`s your decision.
I had a 100Watt converter for my jap. Dreamcast but I decided to get the 200Watt one for my PS2(just to be on the safe side- the new one has a fuse also).
As I said in my previous reply: 100Watt are enough but more is better.

where did you get your converter from?should it say how many watts it has?i will have another look,so if the ps2 sucks more power then the thing could blow up,is that what you are saying.
So shall i try and get a converter that has 200 watt,?is that an output?
p.s i have got my self abit confussed about the hole thing now.
