Don\'t know if you guys know about this one but alot of you are looking forward to this game so here\'s the link

Grabbing it now. Thanks for the link.

Just finished... This video makes the game look very interesting and challenging... As well as showing off nice graphics and effects, such as self-casting shadows (software of course). I only really played Air Combat, didn\'t have much interest in the sequels... that one was pretty darn repetative. I hope this one can deliever something special.
-
I haven\'t downloaded the video yet but I will. Even now, I do play the old Ace Combat 2 occasionally. I\'ve been playing it since the day it releases and still haven\'t gotten bored of it yet so I\'m definately looking forward to play AC4 when it releases here.
By the way, has anyone checked out this wallpaper yet?http://ps2media.ign.com/media/previews/image/ac44/ac1_1024.jpg
It looks incredibly realistic even though it\'s just a render picture.
-
The graphics are slightly better than Falcon 4.0, which is good. I\'ve never played a game in this series, so I don\'t know whether the realism can measure up to F4. Maybe it\'s not supposed to. The realism of Falcon 4 with some of the unofficial third party patches is just frightening. As I recall it\'s like a 21 step process just to start the engine.
By the way, is that the Joint Strike Fighter they\'re flying in that video? Thanks for the link D.

Coredweller - theyre sitting at the opposite ends of the same genre, Falcon 4 the closest were likely to get to simulating a F16 Falcon in the commercial market while the Ace Combat series concentrates on a arcadey feel, a fast and fun albeit inaccurate reproduction of air combat. As far as I can tell the craft shown in the clip were the F14 Tomcat and the F22 Raptor. AC4 is looking good as ever although it would be nice to see some low level action.

looking good!
Great that its namco doing it for me as they will use Sony as the publishers. I work for a division of Sony so Ill get it for £14.... lovely jubbly
-
I just hope a flight sim game can actually be good on a console. I have yet to play a more real to life flight sim that has been any good..
We shall see
-
Yes, Ace Combat 4 is NOT a flight SIM... the original Air Combat by Namco titles were born from the arcade, and it stays an arcade series... Actually, these graphics are quite a bit advanced over 4.0... except for ground detail, which for some reason suffers in AC4. Anyways... it\'s pure arcade action, and many times planes aren\'t done realistically and sometimes new things are made up. The clips of what looks like a storyboard at the end of the video clip makes it look like this is more story driven...

You\'re right, now that I look at it, that is obviously an F-22. The Joint Strike Fighter just looks too wacky, like a big toy or something. Do you think Boeing overlooked a section in the Pentagon\'s RFP when they were developing the JSF? You know, the section where it says "it has to look cool." How will they ever recruit pilots for the Navy if they know they have to fly that tub?
-
hehe yeah, I think theyre trying to appeal to the kids still playing with their fisher-price toy airplanes. At least it looks slightly less whacky than the F117 (Stealth Fighter) - it looked like it was styled after a boomerang :)
Actually when I look at the JSF I cant help but think of Sonys Dropship, thats a good thing in my books ;)

Like the game play and it would be nice to see if the add some nice missions and wepaons into this game.
but looking at some of the tone in this thread i have better not like this game too much or someone will called me a SONY Fanboy .

Actually you Lamer before you assume you need to ask. What I meant about that comment was since I’m a hardcore PC flight sim player, I thought for the psx2 this was looking pretty good for an air combat game.
So there, those are my intentions, hopefully this eases your burden.

What\'s a "psx2"?

PSX2 was the name given to the Playstation 2 before the official name was anounced, back when there was a scramble for domain names Bjorn must of regersterd PSX2 seeing that the demand for that name was high (as thats what everyone though it was going to be called).
The Cental part was just added for a tough of Class.....
and hence the use of PSX2 to describe the PS2 sometimes.
just in the Same way some people call the Playsation the PSX.

...so...it should be better saying it\'s good for a Console-flight-sim Game...don\'t you agree ?
(PS2...not PSX2 !)
-
He, he well ooseven I am aware of that, but this is what i will always call PS2=PSX2 sounds better to me and I like it. Also what sounds better PS1 or PSX.
Cheers Mate!

well console flim sim will never take place, cause the casual gammer has to interest in them, TOO BAD. Now as for combat fighter, is seems good pretty good for the PSX2, considering i have played many others on the pc, the PSX2 version looks sweet. But i have money only for one combat fighter, therefore i must choose the best, and so far the superior one looks Like AFD2.
Anyhow hopefully they make a sequal for this game on PSX2 with online play, cause that would be sweet.

Hmm, so you\'ve come to that conclusion after playing both for an extensive period of time right?
If AFD2 is anything like the first one, then it\'ll be a pos.

That could be said about everything out there.
