One thing commonly not pointed out is Gamecube\'s height. Due to it\'s being top loading, as well as being an inch taller than Xbox to begin with, you\'d end up needing about 8 inches of height for it in your entertainment center. in fact, I might even have a problem as a result of that..
Shame it\'s too wide, otherwise I could stick it between my TV and entertainment center like I\'m doing with my upright-standing PS2 right now.
-
Yeah I\'ve thought alot about the GC\'s hight. It could be a problem for some people.
I\'d like a slot loading console.
-
They had a gamecube shell in a plastic case at Software ECT. It\'s not to bad. But holy shiznit! that Xbox thing is HUGE!!!!!

Isn\'t that what Indrema was supposed to be? :)
-
I don\'t know,I think the Indrema had a normal tray loading drive. But I\'m not sure.

Man that thing is big, I wonder why they made it that big, I personally think its ugly.

It needs cooling.It\'s big to create a good airflow through it.

Less moving parts means less things that could possibly break.
-
yeah my PS2 fits horizontal above my VCR,dreamcast is about the only other system i could fit, X-BOX is about the size of my tv j/k sorta
-
Judging from the top pic it looks like the Xbox is like 6 GameCubes.
-
Now that I look at it real good it looks more like 9, maybe even more, the shadow throws me off.

He\'s right...that NGC isn\'t real.
Its a rubber NGC that was being carried around by someone at PlanetGameCube. He said it was smaller in size than a normal NGC.
Anyhoo, that\'s one big mutha fuking console! ;

Heres a pic I found of a guy holding a Xbox maybe youve seen it??
-
What is it about that XBox case that makes it look so cheap? I think the color has something to do with it. It looks like a Colecovision or something. And the design, with those curved edges makes it look like a JC Penny product. It looks like if you pressed down on the top a little the plastic would creak from some poorly designed joints. That\'s just my impression from looking at it.

sixe matters not, judg...sorry Joyda, doing your line...
but seriously, if anyone hoped that the XB would fit nicely into their entertainment system, or against the wall, imn abook shelf....anywhere neat and tidy...their wrong, they need a fair bit of space. I know i couldnt find anywhere convenient to put it
but thten again, size really shouldnt effect your purchasing of a console

HMm.. you say this because you own the console already???
I actually went to E3 and got to see the Xbox up front. Guys, it is not that big at all...
Bob, if you can\'t find room to put a DVD in your entertainment center, then you don\'t have much add-on space for your entertaintment system at all, now do you?
The Xbox is smaller than a DVD player. It is really quite nice, actually. I got to see it up front. The only complaint I have abotu it (well, actually two complaints) is that the plastic in the center of the console (and the grated sides) is shiny black. It looks very cheap when you go up front to it. The second complaint is that the DVD IR add-on takes up a console port. They should make a port in the middle of the console to plug only into the DVD add on. Then the box would be more symmetrical.
Overall, I liked the Xbox design. Most people here, unfortunately, did not get to see it up front and are only blasting it based on the pictures posted on the net.
On a side note, the GC is very small. I was amazed when I saw it. It is NOT, however, as small as in the picture above. that is not a GC. I have no idea what the hell that was.
I would say that the Xbox is two GCs put together.

you know what
this just goes to show that the DC was made pretty good size becuase its not to long or tall - never really noriced till you put all of them next to each other
