From CVG interview:
Q: What is the software strategy for Game Cube?
Yamauchi: Although sales of the Game Boy Advance have been good, sales of exclusive software have been sluggish because too many titles were released at the same time. So when it comes to the domestic launch of Game Cube, Nintendo will release only two software titles. We hope to attract consumers with a few really great games.
Dammmmnnn. I didn\'t expect that. Actually, unless you hate the 2 games, I think it\'s good. A lot of people (in here) were complaining how expensive the big launch week would be. Now it will be cheaper, and you won\'t have to (hopefully) put back a GC game because you can\'t afford them all.
-
Just to clear something up for ppl, if you dont know NINTENDO themselves are only releasing 2 games at launch, there isnt gonna be only 2 games at launch theres gonna be about 16 but only 2 from Nintendo themselves.
-
Oh... hmmm... I thought he meant total. Oh well, it\'s back to choosing carefully which games you want...
-
Yeah :( If one of the titles is Luigi\'s Mansion and the other isn\'t Mario then I am gong to be very dissapointed. :( I hope Rare really comes through on their titles.
-
I read this interview and it he meant 2 Nintendo games for the JAPANESE launch. Even if this is for the America launch, he means Nintendo games which don\'t represent third or second party games( I don\'t care if I\'m wrong).

*Yeah If one of the titles is Luigi\'s Mansion and the other isn\'t Mario then I am gong to be very dissapointed.*
I read that there will not for the 1st time in Nintendo history be a Mario game.

I heard the same. It makes me very nervous since Luigi Mansion is not my type of game and I really only buy Nintendo for Miyamoto and Rare. :/

Mario as well as Zelda will be shown at Spaceworld. Nintendo wanted to keep something to hype their system very close to launch and these are some of the things that will do that. I can post a link if you want.

Errrr....isn\'t Luigi also from Miyamoto? After all, he is Mario\'s brother.

I did a double take on this one, too. He was only talking about Japan there. Don\'t know if it includes second or third part games, but I don\'t care either - let those Japs worry about it! ;]

Sure is, but he is spreading himself pretty thin these days so hopefully Luigi\'s Mansion is just as much his as Yoshi Story was.

Luigi\'s Mansion looks good. If that\'s a launch title I\'ll be sure to get it.
-
I think Luigi needs to start getting into the spotlight, after years and years of living in his Mario\'s shadow, hopefully Luigi will get to be more popular.

Also, don\'t forget that the N64 launched w/ 3 measly games. Mario 64, Pilot Wings, and some chess game. I don\'t think Nintendo would make that same dumb mistake again.

You have to admit though Mario 64 was one awesome game, I played that for a long time and really wasnt interested in any other games, but I dont think Nintendo would do that again either I think when people go to buy a console they liked to be wowed by lots of games.
-
Mario64 was awesome, but Nintendo launchs are always rather bare when it comes to software . So, I am not suprised in the least. I don\'t think anyone expected alot of titles from Nintendo at launch.
What did you expect? Zelda, StarFox, Mario, Lugi, F-Zero, Wave Race , all at launch?

This is what has been said. 2 EXCLUSIVE NINTENDO games for the Japanese launch, 6 EXCLUSIVE NINTENDO games for North American launch. This doesn\'t include third party games which should be in good number (Acclaim set 6 for Novermber 2001).

GCN launch games (released Nov. 5) for America are
All Star Baseball 2K2
Crazy Taxi
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
Eternal Darkness (Nintendo)
Luigi\'s Mansion (Nintendo)
Madden NFL 2K2
NBA Courtside 2K2 (Nintendo)
NFL Quarterback Club 2K2
Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2
StarFox Adventures - Dinosaur Planet (Nintendo)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Nintendo)
Wave Race: Blue Storm (Nintendo)
XG3: Extreme Racing
That makes for 6 Nintendo published games out of 13 launch titles. Other titles are scheduled for November, and some, like Pikmin (Nintendo), are slated for December.
