ahhhhhhhh I remember that game o_O
but no, can\'t help ya bud.

Is that the one where you are the dealer? a Text adventure? you are in the bouroughs of New York and you gotta go around and sell drugs to people for as much and buy for as least as possible.
That game was great.

Naw, Altered, you\'re thinking about drugwars. I think Druglords is sim-type of game where you run a drug smuggling cartel from somewhere in south america. You have to hire thugs, soldiers, grow or buy drugs, find the best shipping route, pay off officalls.. things like that.
Really, If it\'s the same game I\'m thinking of then I don\'t think it was ever realeased for commercial sale which can make it a bit hard to find. You might want to check http://www.mobygames.com to see if they have any info on it. If they don\'t, then 9 outta 10 times the game is Shareware. And if they do have it, they should be able to tell you what year it was created and if it\'s still for sale from the company.
Either way, if the game is no longer distributed or supported by it\'s owner then it\'s considered Abandonware. You can check the various ABware sites to see if they have it available for download. You can pretty much find ANY old game you want on the interenet.. it just depends on how hard you look. If it is still sold by the copyright owners, then Moby should have all the info you need on where to buy it.
BTW Altered, what was you all-time high score for Drugwars? I think mine got up to around 13.9035234 ^x10 (So high it had to register my score in scientific numbers.) :D That was great.
-
I d/l it from download.com awhile back.
-
Argh, I was thinking of Drugwars myself.
"Officer Hardass and 4 of his pigs are after you!"

Yes ur right AlteredBeast thats the 1 im looking for so do u know where i can find it? its a text adventure and u know what im talking about so plz telll me where to find it

I probably have it on my old IBM, lemme take a look at it.
Try http://www.abandongames.com and look around, otherwise, try http://www.theunderdogs.org
There are various other sites around the net.
SonyFan - Scientific numbers eh? not too shabby.:D I belive my high score went into the hundred billions, and by tha time, my junked up copy would lock up on me. I had some good breaks thoguh on that game. One time Heroin was being made cheap for like 750 - 800 and I turned around, went to another Bourough and sold it for like 35k. Not too bad, especially when you have a coat full of them. :)

*this message does not condone the selling or use of drugs, thank you. :)

What a great game... so addictive! lol You can get it at http://www.download.com
-
You might also want to try Drugwars95. It\'s basically the same, except it\'s a windows program now and has a WHOLE lot more drugs for you to sell. Anything from Smack to Crack to Payotte and Ludes. It\'s awesome, plus if you fool around with the text files you can rename the locations. So instead of selling drugs in New York.. I\'m selling them at the different locations inside my old school. (A-B-C & D Wings, Parking Lot, Cafeteria, Ect..)
Hey Altered, do you post at the Abandongames forum? If so, what screenname? I check it just about daily to see what old games people are raving about and then go out and download em to try for myself. Underdogs is awesome too. I was kinda worried when the ISDA shut em down.. but now it looks like their back up in full force, even better than before.
-
BTW: Don\'t bother looking, I found it for you. It\'s shareware, and the original 1984 version which is what I think you\'re looking for.
Enjoy.. and remember.. don\'t smoke the Paraquat!
(Damn, the file\'s too large for me to attach it here. If you give me your E-mail addy, I can send it to you sometime tomorrow along with a copy of Drugwar95.)
-
Has everyone else getting "page cannot be displayed" 3/4 of the time recently?
-
yeah I had DrugWars revised on my newer computer a while ago. But lost it when I reformatted.
I posted ONCE at the abandongames forum and now I can\'t remember where it was at. just all me a goofball. PM me the location!
my favorite not so abandonwarez - Police Quest and Beneath a Steel Sky!

I just downloaded Drug Wars from download.com and I became addicted...... I beat that game in a matter of 1 hour though...
-
Well I don\'t really remember where the file is at, but if you PM me your E-mail addy, I can zip the directory and send it to ya no prob. Benieth a Steel Sky is a pretty good one.. but for some reason it keeps crashing on me. The farthest I\'ve gotten is pretty much just out of the factory. Police Quest 1-4 are good too, but I don\'t really care for cops so there\'s no appeal to playing one. If you haven\'t tried it yet, check out the Les Manly series. Their kinda like a not-so-famous alternitive game to Leisure Suit Larry.
Ajoh432- You can\'t really win or loose at the game. It\'s all about getting as much cash (Highscore) as you can before you run out of days. I guess you could loose technically if you smoke the paraquat, get killed, or fail to pay off your loanshark... but all those "deaths" are almost non-existant.
Also, I\'m not sure what\'s up with Abandongame.com. Their server must be on the fritz because I\'ve been getting the 404\'s everyonce in a while there too.

Haha, I remember Les Manly... I enjoyed "Search for the King" a lot on my brother\'s Amiga 500 back in the days. It was a quite good adventure game. :)

Altered, that underdogs site is a friggin\' windfall. I found classics I NEVER thought I would ever play again. I must have downloaded 15 games, and I didn\'t have time to search the whole site.
Thanks, man.
-
You should have seen them with their old front page before the IDSA shut them down the first time. They are only now getting to be truly great again.
No problem though :)

Heh.. you have no idea. Just about every single old game ever made is available for download SOMEWHERE... it\'s just a matter of knowing where to look, who to ask, and where to listen in other people\'s chats. Like Altered said, Underdogs isn\'t as good as they used to be. Since being shutdown, they\'ve been on guard to keep ONLY abandonware on their site and not oldwarez. (Games that are very hard to find, but still sold) In it\'s glory days, they probably had twice the amount of games. http://www.Gangsters.org was excellent too, but since they\'ve been shut down it\'s nothing more than really a chat room to discuss ABwares and a small development community.
BTW: Samwise.. I have both Les Manly games if you want em. ;)
