I bought the Predator -dvd a little while ago. After the disappointing lack of extras ( only trailer ), I started the movie. I had seen Predator once before, but many years ago, but I remembered I thought it was one helluva cool one back then.
So, for a Schwarzenegger film, I had no big expectations - but I KNEW Predator was going to be a good film. Only draw-back was the fact that Predator II existed, wich was one movie of utter piece of cr@p. So, I wasn\'t too sure - as I remember I loved Rambo when I was little, and nowadays... Well, should I say I don\'t love Rambo anymore?
Plot wasn\'t too promising either. It went something down like this:
\'Team of Super-soldiers are sent to a mission on deep jungle to rescue hostages. Dutch ( Schwarzenegger ) leads them, being one of the greatest soldiers of all time. But soon they face something that isn\'t from this earth. Something that hunts them for sport.\'
But I just love the Predator-character, and I knew it from Aliens vs. Predator pc game and from the Predator II movie - it looked like one mean mother-****3r
But, I won\'t spoil anything, I found the movie surprisingly good. Actually, it was one of the top three Schwarzenegger movies, if not the best. Total Recall is either as good or tad bit better - I\'m not sure.
It seems like an action movie, and half of it truly is macho bullsh1t, but it\'s something more. It\'s filled with eerie atmosphere, and it IS exciting. And the Predator is WAY lot cooler than in the sequel. It looks the same, but the presence, the way it has been shot... is just something way more EVIL than in the sequel...
I recommend you to rent this movie, as it might not be worth a buy after all ( due to lack of extras - the movie is great ). If you\'re fan of Schwarzenegger\'s, then buy it.
