help!, how should i optimize my surround sound system?
« on: June 11, 2001, 04:21:36 PM »
ok today i went and bought some small 40 watt box speakers for my room so i can have surround sound in my room and better enjoy my gaiming experience, the thign is though i dont know exactly where i should place my speakers to have the best sound, right now i have them in the back top part of my room, i have made some really crappy diagrams to help you better understand my situation here is figure a.

this is a scarce picture i made of my room from the top view, in front of me is my tv and stereo, and behind me are the sepakers i bought now i know this is a good way to have them setup but i have them at the very top of my room almost touching the roof, i can hear them well but i wana actually be able to be emmersed in the sound and fell as if i had full 360 sound if you can understand what im trying to say so here is figure b.

this is a side view of my room " it is crappy but it helps explain what im trying to get at", no.1 is where my speakers at currently placed. they are placed diagnoly so the sounds hit each other  but the thing is the sound is above my head so i cannot actually here them very well.

now no.2 is a bit lower like the middle of my room, i am wondering if i have them here i can hear them better and maybe get the 360 feeling im looking for.

and finally no.3 wich would be like parallel to my head wich i know i will get the 360 feeling but i dont know if this is the best place to have them.

now i am asking you guys how should i setup my speakers in the to get the full surround sound im looking for, is it 1, 2, or 3, PLEASE HELP ME!

thanks :)

I\'m not sure  what I would do.. I would think #2 would be better, but I\'m not exactly a home theater guru or anything like that, so maybe you shouldn\'t trust me :p

I have 100 watt spekers in teh back and they are up in the top corners... I think you should go with #2 unless you ALWAYS sit on the floor then #1 mite be better... #1 or #2 definetley...

Don\'t have the rear speakers at ear level.  You shouldn\'t be able to tell where the speaker is if you closed your eyes.  I have mine forward facing in the rear about 8 feet high.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.
