THe makers of the Xbox would give their left foot to have a match up like this on their console. Two of the MOST popular video game characters ever in the same game!! This game could sell a lot more copies just for the nostalgia alone; but one thing is certain, if this is a true rumor the game WILL sell more copies than it would have otherwise.

i see...well, it seams to me like you grew up playing games on the PSX, or PC.  First of all, its not just \'kids\' who like these games.  And what exactly defines the age cut off, or maturity cut off of a \'kid\'?

ugh...just saw what Eik put, and...yeah, he pretty much just summed it up  :) well done.  Dont come into a VIDEOGAME forums touting off stuff that ony kids like mario and sonic.

Damn you guys are so sensative I see that mario and sonic is a touchy subject.

I mean sure when I was a little kid I grew up on mario and sonic, but they whole concept of those type of games are made for kids.

I mean if I was a lame teenager or adult yes I would still find kiddy games like those entertaining. You can\'t tell  me the whole concept of saving mushroom headS and furry animals is not  kiddy.

And BOB look at the characters and concept of the game and tell me that mario and sonic was made for and age of 14 and over. Stop runing on your emotions. Just because I see sonic and mario as being for kids does not mean you will or anyone else. You or whoevers interpetation of child-adult orentated material maybe be different.

I also feel sesame street is for kids. Wanna challenge me on that opinon too?

"they whole concept of those type of games are made for kids."

There\'s a difference between "for \'kids\'" and "for everyone."

"I mean if I was a lame teenager or adult yes I would still find kiddy games like those entertaining. You can\'t tell me the whole concept of saving mushroom headS and furry animals is not kiddy."

In this bit you manage to take some of the finest work in videogame development and reduce it to something that makes no sense at all.  You clearly don\'t have a concept of what makes a good game.  If, by lame adult you mean someone who is not superficial, shallow, and apparently blind as well, then you\'re right on.

"look at the characters and concept of the game and tell me that mario and sonic was made for and age of 14 and over."

Ever hear the phrase "ages 8 to 80"?  In a related query, do you have some sort of complex about liking something that other age groups might also enjoy?

"Just because I see sonic and mario as being for kids does not mean you will or anyone else."

Oh, look, and you\'re a hypocrite, too.

"I also feel sesame street is for kids. Wanna challenge me on that opinon too?"

Sesame Street is designed to, among other things, teach children numbers.  Mario and Sonic is designed to offer a fun time for everyone (i.e. ages 8 to 80).  So as weird as it sounds to say, you\'re right here, but let\'s not lose sight of the fact that you\'re wrong everywhere else.

I imagine you\'ll reply something like this: "Well, it\'s my opinion."  That\'s nice, but while it\'s a little harsh to say, my opinion is better.

LOL it is funny how you said ages 8-80. Now that is funny, but hey that is the way you feel and I am not going to knock it. But I see you don\'t understand the difference.

I mean look at sonic.  He saves little animals and he is a blue hedge hog. He spins and he zipes throuh worlds. Althogh it maybe fun. That does not mean that the game is not orentated to kids.

I thought that shrek was a all around fun movie, but it was packedge and presented and marketed and developed as a kiddy movie.

See my point now. I am not in know way trying to mock the level of fun in those type of games, but they are what they are. Child like games.  The level of content in those games is  G rated , but that does not stop them from being fun.

And I take back the lame comment. It was uncalled for. I admit that.

ehh, 8 or 80, you still have to look at the controller to find the buttons.  You are also amazed by shiny graphics and drool a lot

and i disagree that shrek was orientated at kids.  the look might seem childish but kids would get, nor would they laugh at half the **** thats in that movie. HEHE its a talking donkey, hehe *phart*

duhhh, in Sonic you have to collect rings and progress through levels, duhhh, in doom you have to collect keys and progress through levels.  Ill tell you whats a game designed for kid, The Adventures of Cookies & Cream (i was stuck for things to come up with, but its still plausible).  Mario and Sonic are designed for all ages.  I know some games are designed specifically for adults over 18, such as Kingpin: Life of Crime, but does that mean every other game, NOT aimed specifically at adults is specifically aimed at children?

Kingpin:  Aimed a adults
Mario: Aimed at everyone
Cookies & Cream: Aimed at kids

if a game is aimed at everyone, that means its fun for kids ages 8, but is also fun for adults...thats what Sonic and Mario are.  Dont be an ignorant fool

Yea, I do, and it makes a lot more sense here.  (Although I think you\'ve also watered down your point from earlier. ;))

My point, however, is that while a game like this is "oriented towards kids" it is, at the same time, oriented towards the rest of gamers as well.  Bobs_Hardware talks about this just above me...

Off topic, I\'d like to say thank you for letting this thread actually develop rather than turn into a flame war.  These boards are top notch in that respect.

Well, now that Sega is pulling the plug on console production and going strictly software, anything is possible.
