Taken from Tendo BoxDragon Warrior Goes To GameCube!! - 6/20/01 Electric Playground has leaked a secret which will undoubtedly help make Gamecube a big success. In perhaps the single most important game announcement for Nintendo\'s next-generation home console, it seems that Enix is working on a new Dragon Warrior title (known as Dragon Quest in Japan) for the GameCube as well as a "special" title for the Game Boy Advance. Keep in mind that Electric Playground is a very credible source and one of its editors was on the E3 Award panel. While Squaresoft\'s Final Fantasy series enjoys tremendous support in Japan, even it is no match for the Dragon Warrior series. The recently released Dragon Warrior VII for the Playstation has already sold nearly 5 million copies and stands as the best selling Playstation title ever. An amazing feat to be sure, as Squaresoft\'s Final Fantasy series has had 3 major Finaly Fantasy releases on the console since the Playstation\'s launch in 1995. Enix has openly said in the past that they\'re not happy with the design of the Playstation 2. Seemingly, it looks like they\'ll be coming home to Nintendo even if Yamauchi did refuse Square. In securing the next installment in the Dragon Warrior series, Nintendo has single-handedly captured the Japanese market. While the Nintendo 64 suffered from lack of RPGs on a whole, which is traditionally successful genre in Japan, its lack of key franchises hurt it more so. Sony\'s success with the Final Fantasy series catapulted it further into more and more Japanese homes, and it\'s nearly guaranteed that Nintendo\'s hold on the new Dragon Warrior series will allow them to do the same with their forthcoming GameCube console. Dragon Warrior VII is currently in the localization process for other markets and will be released on November 1, 2001 in North America. Enix expects to sell two million copies of the game in North America. Additionally, Dragon Warrior III for the Game Boy Color will be released on July 17th.If all of the above is true, expect an announcement at Space World this August.
