What do you guys think of Oni. I was playing a demo of it on my mates computer and it seemed cool.

Is it worth getting? Remember, I\'m in PAL territory so theres not much out there.

This reply is *definitely* to be taken as "only one person\'s point of view"....

First thoughts when I played it: "Eh, its \'not all *that*\'"

This game got talked up like crazy before it hit.  I\'ve always (personally) enjoyed the Tomb Raider series & figured this same "perspective" game would be enjoyable.

But what I found was mostly barren, non-descript environments.  Its like nothing jumped out and grabbed me to say WOW!  But again, to each his own...

On the control side, the fact of the matter is if you are into a challenge, then from a control perspective you might love this game.  I felt like I had two fist-fulls of buttons that I was trying to remember.  But if I *could* remember all of them...then I was in for a treat cuz of how I could control her.  Yet it was the lack of time I was (not) willing to put into the game that left me unfamiliar time and again with the controls each time I\'d pick the game up...and that would be the death of me.  Nothing much more frustrating than having two opponents zeroing in on you and you figuring *this* button will make me shoot a special weapon only to find that the button you mash makes you jump...or roll...or flip...or...or...or...well, funny thing was that the button *wasn\'t* the right one to make me shoot.  For me, that led to frustration with the game.

At the same time, I still own it because I tell myself that I\'ll go back to it someday and try to master it.  Yeah, right... With Red Faction, TM:B, GT3 (coming in 3 weeks), and so on, I should trade this game in...

Again, this is only one gamer\'s opinion...  It can be viewed as challenging...or frustrating...depending on your gaming perspective.  Sorry titles are soo thin for you Vulcan.  I am only glad that I\'m not in your shoes in that regards.

Oni - Here is my mini review.

Its a fairly average action / adventure. The story is at best moderatly enteraining, whilst the action becomes repetitive very quickly.

I like the sort of Urban Choas style 3rd person beat people up kinda idea but even that becomes repetivitive. You basically beat some guards up, follow the radar to find a key and then follow the radar again to unlock a door, you may then get a little bit of story, then you repeat this process throughout the whole game.

Finding keys and switches for doors and then finding more keys and switchings for doors is just not worth forking out £40 for.

The graphics are fairly bland but they manage to do the job. The sound effects are fairly decent, nothing to rave about, its just nice that the chacater voices don\'t seem to come anonying.

If the idea of Oni is what makes you curious get the great PS1 game, Urban Chaos. There is a game that is very good, action / adventure in massive game areas.

If you want a PS2 game though, I wouldn\'t go for Oni just because you feel that there are no other decent games, I would either wait for Onimusha or check out Extermination / Red Faction / Ring of Red.

By buggery,  this is a game so pus-infested, it fills my member with wanton rage!!!!

Bland and sterile is the only way to describe the look of the game.  Completely barren and replete with shades of grey, there is no eye-candy whatsoever.

Much of the gameplay, as has been described by the previous comments, deals with finding keys/buttons to open doors, which becomes very boring.

And combat becomes all too boring with wave after wave of the same guys to fight through.

You must avoid this game, or by God, I\'ll have my carriage arrive at your door, to whisk you away!

Thanks a lot guys. I had seen a bad review for it, but it\'s best to hear it from the gamers cause sometimes reviewers get really negative about games.

I guess I will wait for some better games.

I haven\'t played this title yet but it seem like a boring game.  It looks like it is missing alot of things in the game.   Just pass on this one.  :D
