Brian Hook doesnt like XB?

Brian Hook from ID Software doesnt like Xbox..
Or so it seems..

Wow, Hook really went for the jugular on that post.
I think he makes valid points about the Xbox, He just underestimates M$’s money, and determination. If they want a product to succeed, they will. They will dump enough money into XBox until they have succeeded in their goal. Scary. :sconf:

Not many of this guys points were valid at all.  He said xbox would fail cause it doesn\'t have a dvd...last time I checked 30 bucks would get you a dvd player.  He said the box would fail cause it doesn\'t have a modem??  
hell neither do any of the consoles at this time.  I think this guy is just bitter cause he lost his job.

And notice he doesn\'t know ANY of the xbox games that everyone is hyped about.  All he know is Halo and gothem??  what about Munch and DOA3??  surely he would know of these?  and if not....SURELY he would know about UNREAL CHAMPIONSHIP who is made by digital extremes?  They are only one of Id\'s Biggest competitors AND located in the same great state of TEXAS.

He also use to work for variant...the company that put out everquest for ps2....figures he would make such comments.  He got fired from ID right?  serves him right:D  And now he "TRYS" to lash out at xbox cause he has no job...LOL:D  

all he did was make himself look stupid with that article.  The fact that he was SO unknowledgable about the xbox and he worked at ID (a big xbox supporter) is evidence of this.  Probully why he lost his job......

Who the **** cares what Mr Hook thinks? Carmack and other more important PC people like XB, and are more positive. What\'s next? Asking a former MS janitor what he thinks? I never even heard of this guy...

This is the same kind of story like the PS2 and DC battle. DC had tons a good games but when PS2 came out, DC was still better IMO. But later on PS2 starting getting kick ass games and SEGA got scared and gave up on consoles.

Whose to say this isn\'t gonna happen with the XBOX and other consoles.

I won\'t comment on Hook\'s thoughts.. but I will say this.

Brian Hook is a well respected developer. He was not fired from iD, he left to join Verant. The man is just stating his opinion. Whether or not his points are valid is another story.

What Hook meant IMO was that it does not come right out of the box with DVD functionality, sure, GC will have DVD functionality, I\'ll just buy one, and put the GC on top of it.  

I don\'t think he is bitter, only speculating on the XBox\'s future.

Krimson, Carmack made quake and you 2 have a lot in common.  You both don\'t care about anything but your own opinions.

Even though Hook is entitled to his opinion, it really doesn\' t matter in the end b/c  all that counts is what potential buyers opinion\'s are and what they think of Xbox and right now there seems to be a lot of ppl  interested in Xbox.

Are you saying I have some peticular reason to value his opinion?  I care about the opinions of developers I\'ve heard of. I just never heard of Hook. Then again, I don\'t play PC games...

I find it real stupid that you would post this in this forum.
But anyways who cares what this guy says he is totally wrong. Xbox has a dvd player all you have to do is buy the remote and software to unlock the playback feature for 30$ And the xbox has a ethernet card. For broadband access. He is probally mad that he got canned. I doubt he wanted to leave ID. His opinion mean nothings. All the things he said where wrong. So who cares. Just like if we asked a bum off the streets.
