Of course I\'m talking about Gitaroo-Man.

Description of the game (via http://www.thegia.com):

"Gitaroo-Man\'s songs are laid out like battles, complete with life bars and different gameplay elements for attack and defense. The defensive portion should be immediately familiar to anyone who\'s played a rhythm game before. Button icons move inward on a crosshair at the center of the screen; pressing them in time to the music will cause U-1 to dodge incoming attacks.

The gameplay for the offensive portions of the battles is slightly more unique. When U-1 attacks with his Gitaroo, a line appears in the center of the screen, moving in time with the music. When the notes rise or fall, so does the line. Players must follow the line with the analog stick and press the appropriate button in time with the music. Successfully keeping up with the music will drain your opponent\'s life bar. The battle continues back and forth until the opponent is down to a certain level on his life bar, then Gitaroo-Man lets loose a blazing "final attack" guitar solo. If played successfully, it\'s enough to knock the enemy down for the count. Though the gameplay sounds simple in theory, Koei has fully exploited the idea with a huge variety in the levels and challenging song patterns. "
