PS2 and VGA Monitor

I was wondering if this would be possible...

I have a ViewSonic PS790 monitor. On the back of the monitor I have the
following connections...

Red, Green, Blue, HSync, and Vsync

Now if I took a component video cable and got a few adapters from radio
shack (female RCA to BNC) would I be able to play my PS2 on my monitor??

It might work, but your picture won\'t be different because PS2 doesn\'t have an option for digital output.

What do you mean digital output?

I thought even hdtv have analog output (cough component).  RGB VGA is analog but it HD.  I think you meant PS2 output is for standard NTSC signal.

Won\'t work.  Totally different.  You need the two sync cables.  Don\'t waste your money.

In that case, you will get RCA quality?  I dunno.  Anyway, what does the horizontal and vertical sync means, videoholic?  Also, I have been wondering what does ground mean too.  Thank you.  One more question, I remember reading somewhere that you could actually connect ps2 to a VGA monitor for true VGA progressive scan if your monitor have sync on green.  What the heck is sync on green suppose to mean?  I can rest assure anyway because my monitor have the 3 colors and they are also sync.

There are VGA Boxes for PS2 available at http://www.lik-sang.com. Those will give you a nice picture. I have a Dreamcast VGA Box and all I can say is...I wont be playing DC on a TV ever again. VGA is good for BIG monitors.
