What game should cross the boundries of genre?
« on: July 15, 2001, 01:41:54 PM »
I have always thought what it would be like to play Tekken as a RPG (The story would be great.)Or to play FF as a fighting game. What game would you guys like to see as  another genre

PS... This topic is from Videogames.com,I thouth it would be an interesting topic to talk about here.
Man.. if BookerT lit a fart during a Spinner-oony.. it truely would be the most electrifying move ever..

Wasn\'t there are run of fighting games with an RPG-ish side game?  FF did Tactics so you never know, you might get your game. :)

I want an open-ended multi environment game,
Take Robotech/Macross, and make it into a flight-sim + RPG :D

I think that\'s where it\'s headed with all the storyline modes.  One day they should go all out.  Have the matches and everything for instant satisfaction, but a good RPG mode for one-player.  It could have training and what not, storylines both scripted and behind-the-scenes.  At least the battle sequences would be worthwhile!  Could be fun...  Especially with multiple routes depending on how you progress or who you\'re character is.  (Undertaker fights in Cell Matches while Edge is entered into the King of The Ring... whatever...)

Heh, first person shooters mixed with Pokemon would satisfy some older gamers...  Nintendo would never allow it, but that would be really funny...  Maybe in the next Conker game...

well i think that FF pretty much had a crossover to the fighting genre with that game - Enhagreiz - or what ever the on that starts with an E - sorry i can\'t remeber it anymore - it was the basis of the bouncer pretty much though

well - i think i cool cross genre would be something like Onimusha as a RPG - i could see that story being a awesome game that way

I wanna see a FPS mixed with a Realtime strategy game set in the period of one of the early american wars. Preferably the Reveloution or the Civil War. So for example, you could take the position of General Lee and move your troops around to position them in strategic locations.. arrange supply lines.. mount offensives.. things like that. But when an actual scirmish breaks out.. it should let you take control of one of the soldiers on the battlefeild and take an active hand in the down & dirty fighting. When your character dies, you should be able to have the option to switch to another character or even do so at random to check on the status of your different regements & platoons.

Now THAT sounds fun to me.

Not all games are cut out for cross-overs.  When the FF series tried to bouce genres it flopped.  Plus it takes away hype from the original game(s).
