I was watching this channel and they where talking about swimming pools and things you can do with the lighting around them. And I begin to think of my horrible experience with swimming.

First I was around 12 at the time. Me and a bunch of my cousins had went to this wave pool. I was having a good old time. Playing with my cousins enjoying the waves. So I had saw one of my cousins down farther at the pool so I swam over to her. When I got next to her she way laying on a tub so I got on it. And no soon as I got on it. The waves started to come and we where being pushed out to 8feet. My cousin got of the tub and left me there all alone. I was scared and did not know what to do so I jump off. No soon as I jump off I fall strait too the bottom. I started pulling on ppls swimming trunks and scratching them. None of those ppl seem to help me. I thought I was going to die as I sank to the bottom of the pool. But just as I though It was over a life guard grabbed me and pulled me to safety. I was scared but not scared where I would not swim again.

Now this has to be the time that scared me from ever swimming again. It was a saturday afternoon. My aunt, uncle and cousins where up here from texas. And my brother was having a big party at his house. Tons of family members where over. So sum of us wanted got swimming my brother has a swimming pool so we decided to take a dip. Now everything was going good til one of my cousin who is only a 11 but she is a really big 11 I mean she ways a lot and is big. She decides to have fun and jump on my back and try and through me in the water. I tried to throw her off but she was too big. I mean she is short and ways a lot and even though I was 19 I couldn\'t shake her. Well she threw me in the 10feet part one of my cousin was there so I tried to grab in but he pushed me all and swam away. I did not know what to do. My life flashed before my eyes. I yelled "help" "help" but nobody seem to help me. Well my aunts, Uncles,Sister, brothers and other cousins where in the house. I yelled and yelled. I don\'t know how I stayed on top of the water. Because I cannot tred water. I jumped in the water and tried to swim under but I could not move. Water starte getting into my lungs. And I tried to tilt my head back and stop it but I couldn\'t I could feel my self giving away. I started chocking and tried to spit the water up but it was too much. I stayed above water some how but I could not swim away.  My whole life went through my head. I was scared that I was going to die, but somehow I was colm. When it seem that I would die in a pool in front of my whole family my cousin who had pushed me returned with a huge stick and pulled me out of the water. I can\'t thank him enough for that. He says if I had not been able to stay on top of the water there is noway he could have saved me. I felt god was truely with me that day. Because I don\'t know how I stayed on top of that water.

I\'ve never had an experience like that. However, my younger brother once nearly drowned when he went down a water slide; the water coming down from the slide pushed him under and he couldn\'t get back up.

I love swimming. My grandfather use to own a pool buisness and would go around building pools for everyone, so natrually he had a nice one in his backyard. I was probably 7 if not younger, he picked me up and threw me in the deep end which was eight feet deep, if I remember correctly. Natrually, I would panic, but after awhile, he got in and picked me up. After that, I loved it. He taught me how to swim. The same with the diving board. I was scared to death of it. So, he ran and picked me up. Picked me up over his shoulders. Stood on the diving board and threw me in the "deep end" again.  After that, it was giving me weights to hold for I\'d sink to the bottom and when I hit the bottom, I was suppose to let them go and come back up. He was teaching me how to hold my breath and not panic.

Ah, I miss swimmin\'. My grandfather sold his buisness and house. So, now if I want to go swimming, I have to go to the lake, which I don\'t do very often.

sux doesn\'t it, once when i was younger (6 years ago) i was 13, we were at my aunties house (brother , 2 cousins one of their mates) and we were in their pool, i remember doing laps or something and their mate (quite big) divided right on top of me... I pretty much was drowning but i knew how to tread water.. not much help because my back was really killing me (did i tell this guy was big?) but my brother grabbed be behind and pulled me out.. My parents went ape **** at this guy (he was like 15 he knew the rules ;) )

Another time that i didn\'t remember was when i was like 3 and was at my grandparents place where i was patting their huge golden retrievers  (near swimming pool, this was where everyone was situated) and one of them tipped me over into the pool (or something) and my Mum was blah blah blahing to her parents and she saw me and saved me, i was really blue she told me so it was close to drowning...

I still love swimming tho, (maybe not as much ;) )

Very rarely a swimming pool is seen in Finland, what a shame really. I\'ve always dreamed of owning one - but due to the long winter, getting one is quite worthless. And there\'s beaches nearby if you want to go swimming.

But, I have bad experiences. The worst was on Korfu, Greek. I was about 6 years old, and could swim due to some swimming school back in Finland. so I was very eager to go swimming in the hot sea. Well, we found this beach, a very nice one. But the waves there were about 4 metres high. For a little guy like me, they were HUGE. But still I went swimming, as I had my \'floats\' on. Well, happened that very soon a big wave threw me into the shore, my hand hit few rocks and I still have scars from it. I couldn\'t breathe, and then straightly another wave hit over me, and I got drifted back into the deep sea. I was in complete panic, as I was underwater and never really had dived, so I tried to reach the surface. Even due to my \'floats\', I wasn\'t really able. I was breathless, but then someone dived underneath me and picked me up ( probably a life-guard had seen what happened ), and I was saved. But I was close to death - if that life-guard wouldn\'t have found me...

I\'m not scared of swimming, but I will never swim in big waves anymore.
