Screens from my RPG, Demonblade (56K Warning!)
« on: July 11, 2001, 12:26:20 AM »
I\'ve been working off and on on an RPG of my own since last June called Demonblade. Up until about three months ago or so I really didn\'t dedicate much time towards it, but since then I\'ve been nice and busy working on this game, and I finally have some screens that are worth showing... 15 of them to be exact. I haven\'t made a demo because the beginning part of the game is very story-based and not very action-based, so if I make one I\'ll have to work around what I\'ve got already.

Story?

Darinth was a nation founded from the ashes of an ancient and corrupt Empire. John the Immortal led the rebelling Principality of Darinth in war against the Empire of Vinhall, and through his amazing skill and power secured a total defeat for Vinhall, and ultimately its destruction. Aiding in the war was Vinhall\'s constant enemy and neighbor, Cadenta.

Over the next 960 years, Darinth becomes quite powerful and wealthy. Darinth and Cadenta remain allies, but Darinth starts to try and control overseas commerce. Cadenta tries to do the same, and eventually a very nasty war breaks out. Cadenta sends a huge invasion fleet to Darinth and for 15 years, a massive war is fought. Eventually, Cadenta\'s superior numbers and force win, and Darinth is utterly defeated, and conquered. The game opens on the final battle of this war.

The game then shifts focus on Cadentan soldiers Ronin Desgald and James Torbauld 25 years later as they are ordered to seek and destroy a group of looting bandits called the Rogue Dragoons. They go to the Eridas Forest to find them, and from there, they discover the Dragoons\' true nature, and Ronin\'s dillema of where his loyalties lie.

Anyway, here goes with the pictures...

The ubiquitous titlescreen. It\'s changed a number of times since I started this game, and will almost definitely change by the time the game is done:)

Part of the opener, the defenders of Darinth face off against the Cadentan invaders

25 years later. Ronin (the main character, with the long blue hair) and his partner James are given an assignment...

...to investigate a group of bandits in the east that have suddenly become very bold and dangerous.

From here on out is just shots of some locations.

The Imperial Capital City of Cadenta.

Kalied Harbor town

The Leviathan, your future ship, docked in the Kalied harbor.

Elefrim, the town of eternal rain

The Tower of Life, the site of the huge final battle of an ancient war, and a very important part of the story

The Eridas Forest maze, a very huge maze of trees and vegetation. One of my favorite parts of the game so far...

...and just to give you an idea of how big this maze is, the screenshot above fits in the white rectangle. I\'m only halfway finished with this maze...

...and the headquarters of the Rogue Dragoons, which is hidden within this forest:)

That\'s all I have for now. At best, if I keep at the pace I\'m going, I should be done by Christmas. I\'m hoping to have a good 20 hours of play if I can help it.

It still looks cool Weltall. I\'m making my own game (but you already know that, so this was just a blatant opportunity of bumping this thread).

Get the game /software RPGMAKER for the Psone.Though, I am not sure that is how WelTall is buildin\' his. Either way, that is a way you can do it.

:)

I am in fact using RPGMaker, but I\'m using the MUCH BETTER PC version. I did not program this from scratch at all, as I know slightly more than jack about programming. Check out http://www.rpgmaker.net if you want the program. Very easy to get into, but making a big RPG is a dandy challenge, which is why it\'s taken me so long to come this far.
