Alot of brave American soldiers will die in battle.  This won\'t be another Desert Storm.  It\'s going to be hard to win this war and like many say, this War may last years.  Afghanastan is only the first Country we have to deal with.  Then you have Iran, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.  What I\'m afraid of is there will be a massive Holy War with all Middle Eastern nations involved.  I pray to God there won\'t be another Terrorist attack in the United States.  Do you think the United States Inteligence dropped the ball on this one?  They spend billions of dollars in intelligence and they managed to highjack 4 planes in an hour!  These Psyco suicide bombers are getting more sophisticated.  It\'s scary!:(

I think most of America is underestimating our enemies.  So many people think that we are just going to go out and destroy everything and then it will be all over, but I don\'t think it will be like that.  The United States Intellegence dropped the ball, what makes you think that the people who prepare for war, the people who make bombs, and the people who invent new weapons didn\'t do the same?

There is a good chance that after we attack, our country will realize that we are not as powerful as we thought, and that other countries have gained way too much power.  I hope that the lack of war in our country didn\'t make us too weak and unprepared.

America has become too politically correct to sucessfully rally the youth of America to fight. The only thing teens get up in arms about anymore is if some kid calls another kid "fag".

How true this is.

I saw last night interviews of teenagers about the coming retaliation, and all the kids could say was, "We shouldn\'t do war, war be bad."

Hmmm, no sh it.  But, what do you propose?

One teen responds:  "We should try to negotiate world peace."

Dear American youth,

GET OFF THE PEACE TRAIN!!  ITS BEEN DERAILED!!

As I stated above, my grandfather LOST his youth, because he understood that we needed to defend our country with our lives.  Has the youth of today been so brainwashed as to think that we can negotiate our way out of this??  What is on TV that I am missing?  For all of the video game "murder simulators" we have been playing for the past 20 years, we sure have bred alot of pacifists.

Now first, let me say that it isn\'t wrong to want peace.  I admire their naivite, and for lack of a better word, optimism.  Second, I\'m not saying that you have to change your view on the world to fit my opinions.

But, it disheartens me to know that these dunderpates will be holding signs to protest the soldiers that do the dirty work for them, because they have been raised on a diet of mommy-and-daddy-spoon-fed-me-till-I-was-15.  I\'m not bragging, but, by the time I was 15, I was forced to put aside my youth and take care of a completely crippled father.  This was no easy task because the man was a total bastard to me and my brothers and sisters growing up.

You know what though?

I SUCKED IT UP, AND DID THE PROPER THING TO DO.

Some kids today suffer no hardships, thereby never opening their eyes until its too late.

So, if you are still living the fantasy that this can be talked away, that all will be ok, please, I\'m begging you, wake up.  The next one on the plane that crashes might be your mom, dad, or even, you.

PS- Just heard that a guy I went to school with lost his sister in the Tower.  Don\'t ever forget this, please.

PPS- This message doesn\'t apply to all teenagers, don\'t get upset.  Chances are, I ain\'t talking about YOU.
Let those who stand for tyranny and injustice fear the hell the United States will unleash upon them.

so jergensoft, you joined the army?

and this war will not be an easy and fun one like desert storm. we wont be able to watch our cruise missles crash into asprin factories. now, we will have to go in, and fight, for years. it wont be a quick one, the terrorists fight gurella warfare, not like desert storm type.

it wont be pretty, and if your 15 or older, you may be in the war.
in years to come

I understand what you\'re trying to say, but perhaps that isn\'t the best way of putting it... Desert Storm wasn\'t exactly easy nor fun. :)

Not yet, man, not yet.

If and when I do join, I\'ll probably join the marines though.  Hopefully I\'ll get to do more that way.  Y\'know, first ones in, last ones out!  :D

Also, I didn\'t mean to insult anyone by what I posted about today\'s youth.  I say these things to get you guys to think.

BTW-Pakistan has just ordered the Afghanistan regime to hand over Bin Ladan, who, it should be noted, denied having ANYTHING to do with the attacks.

He must be shi tt ing in his turban.

A freaky thought struck me today as I sat with my wife in a packed, and extremely patriotic & heart-wrenched congregation at church...

While we\'ve watched year after year (literally, generation after generation) in the middle-east fight "holy wars"...what would we do if a terrorist\'s next similar attack was on an American church???  Regardless of religion; I mean, cripe, Osama says he believes in the same God we do?!?!...but how would we react to such an event?  I am not looking for an answer...we are still numb from 5 days ago; but this struck me nonetheless...

As far as the original question of this thread:  (said tongue-in-cheek, but really sarcastically mad-as-hell)...I thought the media and our politicians have already resigned themselves to the apparently undesputable fact that all children are completely numb to violence now through the efforts of videogames and the like???...  Again, this is just me being sarcastic.

But in all truth...I believe in this nation.  I believe those that exist in our service sectors and that those that will never forget September 11, 2001...all of us...will be willing to do that which is necessary to remove the fundamentalists of terrorism.

Picture this: Dave finds an available seat for his \"Aggressive Drivers Anonymous\" encounter group session.   Saying, \"Hello\" he sits amongst his support group of S2K owners...  Smiling, they rock ever-so-gently to and fro in their chairs...humming peacefully...drinking coffee...and rolling little AutoArt & Maisto S2000s across their knees.  At this moment, the group responds in unison, \"Hi, w1ngman!\" :D

Hell, you don\'t have to ask Russia ****.  Remember Viet-Nam?

Anyway, as efficient as we would like to think Russia was back in the day, the simple truth was that they just weren\'t.  By the time Afghanistan was done with Russia, Russia was done with Russia.

The media and the gov. wanted, or didn\'t know any better about the "Great Russian Bear", so all we saw was big, bad USSR get smacked down by the lil\' guy.

This will be completely, and totally different than Viet-Nam, or the Russian invasion.  This time we have complete and total backing, and the leadership to use these weapons.

Uh-uh, no Viet-Nam here, folks.

Just good ol\' fashioned sweep-and-clear (in simplified terms).

When it\'s all over, I just hope some proud American brings back bin Laden\'s head as a souvenir.

As for the original question, we have the balls and if the media doesn\'t think so, it can eat them.

As much as I\'ve made fun of him in the past, I\'m glad as hell that Bush is our president.  You can tell he\'s just itching to kill somebody.

I really like how Bush and his top officials like Rumsfield and Powell, have come out and said that this is going to be a LONG and bloody war. They\'re doing their best to try to prepare the american public for a long battle, and that\'s good. If our leaders are prepared for a long and tough battle where many lives will be lost, than so will the American people.
