The release date for SC2 in Japan is projected to be Spring 2002. If you notice on the release date page, I have it as Summer 2002. I was close!

Fighting arenas are now complete with walls and uneven terrain, a la Virtua Fighter 3
Characters make different noises depending on the terrain.
Two new features called Avoid and Break. I\'m guessing Avoid is to execute some sidesteap move and Break might be either to break someone\'s guard, or to maybe break a weapon?
There will be 16 - 20 characters with at least 5 being totally new characters. The new characters are Cassandra (Sophitia\'s younger sister), Wovama, a young female warrior, a Korean character (probably the Hwang looking type fellow), a French swordsman wielding a Rapier, and a Pacific Islander brandishing Tonfas.
Returning to the foray are Mitsurugi, Taki, Ivy, Siegried, Nightmare, Astraroth, Xianghua, Cervantes, Voldo, Kilik, and Yoshimitsu. No Hwang-bang this time around? I guess I was right about the screenshots the first time.
