As most of you know that I am not a PS2 fan nor a Sony fan and I won\'t buy one.  However that being said....

You are really blowing this out of proportion.  Who cares about Resident Evil.  It was awesome at one time, but its almost 2002 and the RE series for the cube has rehashed playablity and pre-rendered graphics.

Why not give gamecube Myst, the best selling game on the PC of all time and be happy with that.   Its stupid...

A big loss would be Devil May Cry being exclusive to the cube, but this is just crap.

Like the Scottish say....  If it ain\'t scottish, its crap!

Could be worse, we could have lost Mega Man!!!

Resident Evil is still a big seller and that is what counts. A lot of people enjoy the series and will continue to enjoy it for sometime, even if the for the most part the play mechanics are out-dated. And maybe the graphics are pre-rendered, but they was still damn amazing.

This news that Famitsu just posted is a huge blow to all PS2 fans everywhere. :(

If anyone hasn\'t seen pics of the RE1 remake on the NGC, go to this thread in the console debating forum.

The NGC now has a good chance of winning this console war.  This should make the "Xbox or NGC" decision a little bit easier for everyone.

Buy a GameCube like everyone else, it\'s gonna own the PS2 anyway..

I agree with the original post - very sad news. After seeing the first screens of RE1, I felt kind of sick because it looks so impressive. Well, until I noticed that the backgrounds are actually prerendered which then again doesn\'t make it THAT impressing anymore. Just to clearify that the graphics do look great, but are by no means very impressive considered backgrounds are prerendered.

None the less, as a Resident Evil fan, very disappointing - especially since I will not purchess GameCube. I do agree that it could have been worse though: I bought Re:CV the other day with the Devil May Cry demo and having played both - I definately had more fun with DMC. Re:CV is just getting kind of old IMO. Part 1 is still unmatched in the category of atmosphere - and yes, it would have been nice to see the same effort of the rehash put in Re:CV for PS2 for instants. But this will be by no means the end of PS2. We still have lots to look forward too.

Nintendo is still (arguably) targeting the younger audiance. Nintendo says so and following the news I have not seen anything different. Resident Evil will boost the charts a bit for the GC, but don\'t forget: when Golden Eye launch at the time for N64, every one said there would be more to come. Looking back, they only got PD and a few others. It is yet to see if Nintendo will change something big this generation. Resident Evil might be an indication, but I still think PS2 will be the way to go for the mature games. Time will show.

Peace out....
