I have two friends who are really nintendo fanboys. I went to his site to rub it in their face. They said that the launch was terrific. What a couple of morons. They said that PS2 only had a great launch because people wanted it to and it had a DVD player. What a load of crap. They can\'t win the arguement so they make up crap. I gave them launch statistics and they still said that it had a great launch. They believe what they want to believe no matter how hard the evidence is. They just won\'t believe that their beloved system is dying. Anybody want to back me up in my arguement against them, ask me for a link on this thread.

Thats the same thing that happended with the Dreamcast in Jap...
i feel that the Gamecube MIGHT go the Dreamcast way...i hope not...

The launch wasn\'t very successful, but that doesn\'t mean the console is dying.  It hasn\'t even started to live yet.  Just give it time.

Uh Titan I hate to break it to you but your friends are kinda right.  It\'s a well known fact that the PS2 sold as a DVD player to alot of people.

You miss understood me. Sorry for wording it wrong. I know it was used as a DVD player. But it sold because Sony wanted it to? I don\'t get it. I admit that I made a mistake about the DVD player part. Sorry.

Yes, but does that justify the poor sales of the NGC?  NO.  Nintendo had the choice to put a DVD player in there console or not, so it\'s their fault it didn\'t sell well.  Also, isn\'t there a seperate NGC that has a DVD player that costs the same as the PS2 did, or has that not been released yet?

IMO, if they put a DVD player in they would have had a great launch. But they didn\'t and now they just screwed themselves.

I don\'t see how adding DVD playback would have helped the GCN.  It sold the PS2 since it added another function while people waited for their games to be released but that seems like a trick that only works once (although, IMO, they were buying the PS2 as a gaming machine and not a DVD player, the DVD just offered incentive to buy a PS2 early on).  My bet is that people just don\'t want to have a console but wait for games again.

Not suprising since japan was not ready for gamecube, I have been there and there was no advertisement in shops or tv. The japanese seemd to be more interested in FFX and some weird wonderswan games

I wonder what jumpmans reaction will be to this
