A discussion of GC being or not being a disappointment
« on: October 12, 2001, 03:29:43 PM »
I feel that there has been too much anti-GC discussion in the Console Debating forum. I think that the GC is all right for now and should not be put down the way many users have. Please do not say that "you (meaning I, OneGig) am doing hardcore gamers everywhere a great disservice by being overly optimistic rather than objective."

1. The progression of technology excessively raises the expectations of gamers.
When a system is first launched, it takes a while for developers to fully utilize the system\'s capabilities. Also, not all developers know as well as the gamers what the proper balance between gameplay and graphics is.

2. Not all gamers are hardcore.
Some gamers are straight-A honors students that "need" to excel in school more than they "need" to excel in games. These gamers have fairly low standards in terms of both graphics and gameplay. (I\'m one of them.)

3. There is no harm in being a late adopter.
Why not buy a GC 6 months or so from now when you can be sure of getting good games? See #1 for more explanation.
