WOW! NFL2K2 for PS2!
« on: October 30, 2001, 04:08:31 PM »
Holy cow, you guys haven\'t seen anything yet in terms of graphics with Madden. We have a running loop of NFL2k2 for SP2 at our store and I must say it was quite jaw dropping, I can\'t imagine the X-Box version much better, if at all.

You guys gotta see it! It shows somebody running and it is a close camera shot (gameplay camera) and you should see the textures!! The turf textures looks like turf perfectly!!! you thought NFL Fever for XBox had a good grass texture??? wait to see NFL2K2\'s textures! Holy crap this game looks great!! I can\'t wait, it better hurry and get out, though!!!

I wonder why none of the online sites have updated their previews for this game!??!?!? Trust me, the screens do this game no justice!

Yeah, it looks like VC shifted a lot of their development time and money towards the PS2, which is probably why NFL2K2 for the DC was underwhelming and WSB2K1 was, to put it mildly, a piece of steaming elephant crap. NFL2K2 looks like the real deal. I was very impressed (and surprised) with Madden 2002 as well - Tiburon Studios are the only EA Sports developers who didn\'t subscribe to the half-assed-uninspired-trademark-EA Sports-sequel-formula (TM) - they really improved Madden 2002\'s gameplay a lot - the AI in the secondary is awesome and the CPU plays a mean running game.

I really thought VC would have to pull a rabit out of their hat with NFL2K2 for the PS2 in light of the very impressive Madden 2002, but with NFL2K2\'s jaw-droping graphics , the superior play-selection to Madden, the 50 year dynasty/franchise mode, and the other options it seems like a bunny just appeared.

Great time to be a gridiron football fan.

Now if only 989 Sports could their act together.....lol, never mind. :)

Wow, thanks Eric. I must say, I didn\'t expect a thread like this at all from you, but it\'s certainly great news and thanks for sharing that with us. I am not a real big fan of football games, but it\'s good to hear that the texture issue on the PS2 (which was for long my only concern) is being resolved, even if slowly. :)

Thanks again, greetz

The only reason he posted this is because he loves Sega more than he loves his own parents. ;)  He just wanted to point out why he thinks Sega is the king of developers.  And I\'m starting to agree with him.  VF4 looks amazing, and it sounds like NFL2K2 puts other football games to shame.

I dont know about the video I saw, but if you have a Best Buy around you, go to it and find their movie demo computer.

Now click on Playstation.

Now on NFL2K2. watch the video. It shows some truly excellent textures on all sides.

and yes, if you havent heard or seen by now, seven, I love Sega. but I don\'t not like PS2, if that is your initial thought. I just think the system they put has proven to be less than stellar in my mind, along with all other consoles of this gen, minus the surprising DC, which proved it was worthy and proved why Sega is so good.

Maddens graphics are not all that good. Look at fever then look at madden about the same except fever has much better textures than madden and more facial animations, and more player detail.  But sega has always been king NFL2K series is king of football.

Add momentum in NFL2k2 and a more in-depth franchise mode, and I\'m sold. I don\'t like the way the players can cut so swiftly in NFL 2k2. My only gripe with the gameplay. Still gonna try the PS2 version however.

I hope the loading isn\'t as bad as Madden\'s.
