Panasonic won\'t release its GameCube-DVD hybrid in the US

The company says that its GameCube-DVD hybrid will remain a Japan-only product.
 
Panasonic has revealed that currently it has no plans to release its licensed GameCube-DVD hybrid in North America. The unit, which has a metallic casing, will be released in Japan on December 14 for a suggested retail price of $325, but according to a Panasonic spokesperson, the product will not be released outside of Japan. "It\'s simply a Japan device," Panasonic spokesperson Kurt Praschak told Reuters. "Right now there are absolutely no plans for US marketing."
The Panasonic GameCube-DVD hybrid, officially named Q, is able to play DVD movies and GameCube games. It was most recently shown at Nintendo\'s Space World event.

Good, because I don\'t see anyone outside of Japan buying that monstrosity.

Fine with me. I wouldn\'t see it selling anyways. However, it is a good idea for Japan, since they\'re a bit behind in their DVD buying (thanks to those Laserdisks).

Either the whole thing, or the guy seems like he\'s batting around the bush, and kinda saying that the GC DVD hybrid vrs won\'t be in the US. Doubt that though. I see it eventually making it to the US. Plus he said that they had no plans this far to make it a US product, that just means they have no plans this far to. Heck, the thing hasn\'t even launched in America. If GCs sell in America like crazy........ And there aren\'t enough to go around....

No big deal IMHO.  Even, by some \'miraculous\' twist of fate had the GCN and the Q launched side by side here, I still would not get the Q.
