PS2: Genki and Namco prepare PlayStation 2 racer!

A handful of new screens from a near-complete version of Genki\'s PlayStation 2 racer \'Wagan Midnight.\' Albeit already available in Japanese arcades, the console version is scheduled for release on March 28th. Originally developed by Namco, the game is reminiscent of Shotokou Battle (Tokyo Xtreme). Thereby, player vehicles are represented by life gauges which deplete as they\'re past by rivals. According to company representatives, the PlayStation 2 version will feature an added scenario mode and several new vehicles. Take a sneak peek at the new media below, expect full impressions in the coming days.

Looks cool, has MUCH better graphics then TOKYO ZERO (supposedly) but I HATE the Anime looking characters...

Anyways, as long as there\'s customisable bumpers, wings and skirts, thats all I care...

WTF? TXR0 looks just like those screens. I don\'t see that much a difference. Otherwise, I am very excited about this. Should be good. If it\'s by Genki, it MUST have all those custom mods. Let\'s hope.

Just a tid bit of info on the source of this game.

Wangan Midnight is originally a Manga series in Japan.  I haven\'t really had time to read the series, but from what I\'ve seen of it, has somethin to do with a guy with a Z. (Me more of an Initial D fan)

Anyhoo, the characters that you see in the screen shots are basically characters straight from the manga, and in my opinion, i kinda think the artist doesn\'t draw characters too well..  But he draws cars nicely, so that\'s a good thing.

looks good, i agree the cartoon characters look a bit crap! i never got tokyo extreme racer, i wanted to, but never got it, maybe ill rent some time

Yeah Tokyo Xtreme Racer is sweet. This looks pretty decent although graphic wise it doesn\'t seem much different to Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
