A link that wants me to DL something? Where did you find this link? Anyway, it proves my point in that Europe is not critical. The US and Japan (I admit it) are crucial to the Xbox. If Japan doesn\'t bite then Europe will be a major factor in its success.

The link is to the site of SCEE. It\'s a PDF-File (you need the Acroread plugin) with the official pressrelease on the salesfigures worldwide.

All 3 markets are very important. Japan because of the software sales and developer support. If you look at Europe though, it isn\'t that much behind and in some aspects even ahead of North America. Any console that wants to succed canot afford to ignore either Europe, North America or Japan.

hehe, I\'m not a clone of 007, hell not even a fan of bond. I used this nick a long time ago and since "phil" is already in use by a dead member (as it seems), I registered with this nick. ;)

God damn you\'re ignorant GigaShadow!

The Xbox is $470 here in Denmark - yes, that\'s in US DOLLARS. Quite a long way from the $299 in the US right? The games here are about $70 for your information (just talking about Xbox now - PS2 is CHEAPER here than in the US (around $230 I think) and the games are more reasonably priced). We\'re not by any means \'poor\' - it\'s just that many people refuse to pay that high a price for something like that... it\'s just bad value - for the moment.

And as seen on the PSone sales, Europe outsold both Japan and the US. And we\'re only about 1 million behind the US when talking about PS2 - almost the same amount you\'re behind Japan. Plus it was more expensive here, released later here, and getting lower shipments - at least in the beginning. So don\'t give me that crap...

Besides, it\'s a market with great potential. If someone wants to be successful they\'d better be sell in ALL 3 major markets.

And about the later releases on games etc. Europe is not ONE country with ONE language or ONE kind of infrastucture. The games need to be shipped to different countries. Besides, the games also need to be converted.

Bleh, I\'ve spent enough time on you.

Hey Samwise,

Personally I couldn\'t care less about Europe.  See, pal here in the US we hardly ever get sales figures from Europe.  Pick up a copy of EGM or any other game magazine and it lists sales figures from the US and Japan.  Obviously I am not alone in my "ignorance".   Your hostility shows an underlying inferiority complex most Europeans have when it comes to the US.  I don\'t care if you are a mod or not.  Your post says it all my insecure friend.  I asked a question and received a rude answer from YOU.

No offense to the rest of the Europeans on here, but you give them a bad name.  At least seven could relay his thoughts in a "civil" manner.

2. there are millions of consoles to be sold there - just as many as japan so it does make quite the difference to a company if they are making money or not and by saleing to those millions they make money

just that easy

oh god that again, i know you americans look down on us but..

We in europe aren\'t stupid you know, nearly everyone can speak english and every ps2 game here in holland is in english

Heh I thought it was the reverse...  Most Europeans look down on us Americans ;) Well I don\'t see many Frenchmen here so maybe not   Samwise\'s message caught me in a bad mood when I first logged on so maybe I overreacted a bit.

Regardless of nationality, it seems a few on here think that if you don\'t have the certain number of posts your opinions don\'t count...

no really - im not that ignorant but i was only stating that they give those options to the gamers and thats why it possibly takes longer to reach europe

and yes i know most people speak english in europe - but the same goes for in japan too - but yet they have japanese language games that will contain eng subtitiles as well

i swear its like i came over to your house and slapped you by saying someone in europe doesnt speak english - you know it is possible - there was no reason to jump on me for something as this - it only shows that you fit the stereotype that people take every chance to put down USA

which at times i almost think is true

I\'ve already talked to Giga through PM\'s so I won\'t be replying more here. But basically I might have overreacted but only because I wanted things to be shown in a more fair perspective. I just don\'t think we should go on in this thread about US vs. Europe or whatever. I don\'t hate Americans or any other nation. If I \'hate\' someone I do it because of their person, not their race or nationality.

PS. I really don\'t have an inferior complex. ;)

PPS. Don\'t let this thread be bogged down with childish remarks and personal attacks.
