Yes, Bizio is correct about programing ease PSX vs Saturn & N64 but the comparison to this generations of consoles is way off. Both Saturn & N64 were crippled by last minute design changes made for the purpose of distancing themselves graphically from the PSX. Complex? No, not in the sense that once programers knew how the machines worked making better looking games just got easier. The design of both machines was understood early on to be poor and a pain in the ass to develop for, period. There was no going around the built in obstacles and settling for graphics well below what these machines were capable of.
Also, as fastson already pointed out, the transition to 3D was relatively brand new to most console developers with the release of PSX, by itself extending the growth cycle more than we should expect for a console using similar architecture today (i.e. DC or xbox).
Xbox UMA?, I\'m not looking for a whole lot of gain there from solving its ‘complexity\'. It wasn\'t invented for the xbox and has been around for a few years now already. A little extra performance squeeze left, sure. Major leaps from launch titles? Don\'t see any reason why I should think so.
NV2A? I can\'t deny xbox could have some major horsepower in store there that we haven\'t seen yet, it could also be another straw dog. Given past the performance of both MS and Nivida at delivering on the advertised goods... don\'t hold your breath.
