Just got back in to PC gaming!!
« on: April 15, 2002, 02:03:26 AM »
Ok i have just got back into PC gaming bigtime, and what game was it that got me back into it? MEDAL OF HONOR!!
This game is soooo good, i think it is much better then Halo, i think it is because it is Humans that you fight agianst and not aliens.
But anyway has anyone played it online? i have tryed but i get really bad lag, when i move forward a few steps, it moves me back to where i was, any idea what this is, and how to stop it? Does any one know if AOL is anygood for gaming? if not what other ISP will be anygood(UK)? is the BT ISP anygood?
One more thing does AOL come with a firewall? if yes could that be alot of the lag?, and how do i turn it off?
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

I think you already have the answer to what\'s wrong with your connection. AOL is absolutely HORRENDOUS for online gaming. Well, for everything else too, but I\'m trying to stay on topic. I don\'t know who else you could go through, but I suggest you drop AOL like a Ho in GTA3. I\'ve had good experiences with local service providers, so you might wanna check your phone book and call around for prices. I think SegaNet is still up, they\'re just owned by EarthLink right now. It\'s all been streamlined to improve online gameplay and will work with any internet capable device. (Xbox, PS2, PC, DC, WebTV.. ect..) I\'ve heard it\'s superfast for a 56k, and I\'ve heard the difference is neglegable. I haven\'t heard any bad things about it tho.

I dunno. Jus get the hell away from AOL as soon as you can.

Heh PC gaming sucks...

Anyway AOL aint bad in the UK. There pretty much all the same.

Online gaming is all about upload really but providing you get like 4.5k a second download on good sites you know your phone line is ok.

Tried going to a lower ping server? It sounds to me like your playing on a far away server.

Whats your ping? I get like 60-50.. Sometimes 30 (on swedish servers)

Anyway, MoHAA is pretty good. Some missions are very fun others are ZZzzzzzz..
I didnt like the multiplayer though, reminds me of Quake :(

The better question would be:

"Is AOL good for ANYTHING?"
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

AOL = Always Off Line......

On line Gaming --- Broadband is the way to go.
I just started playing Half-life on line again the other day, I think playing Halo on line got me back into it.
Xbox - live it......

Still called American online line but everyone here calls it AOL and its aimed at the ignorant computer user who wouldn\'t know what the accorym stands for.

They are marketed as an easy to use ISP with no fuss. They offer free trails with free phone calls (something the UK never got like the Americans). On the advert it shows kids playing safe on the Internet rather than accessing porno. You know the kind of thing. It seems like an OK ISP though.
