It doesnt\' have backlit capabilities (like gamegear)... really, the only thing it\'s missing.
You can buy aftermarket backlight systems, but they void the warranty (require soldering, opening it yourself) - I did that, and it was utterly worth it. My GBA now has a backlit screen like my gamegear, and it\'s beautifle for playing in the dark, with even bright illumination of the whole screen. They\'re not selling right now, but the kit is coming out, but from the success I had with my copy kit, I would assume that this one will be even better.
The other option is just to buy a small game light, that hangs over or goes on top of the screen. I had a wormlight, and returned it, and a small \'magnifier lighting\' screen, and returned it. Both cause horrendous amounts of glare if you try and play in the dark... playable but crappy.
*EDIT*Heres the
LINK for one of the aftermarket-behind-the-glass lighting kit. It\'s simmilar to the one I used (this one used to be called portable monopoly, till they got lawyers letters... sheesh!), but probably a little higher quality. I\'d reccomend this kit to others, but like I said, you have to be comfortale with voiding the warranty (technically the wormlight and lightshield also void the waranty

) and doing some soldering. I will be replacing my current kit with this one when they ship, as mine doesn\'t have adjustable lighting, or cool-running LEDs, and the battery life is draining even when I play during the day.
