The Latest on Naughty Dog

Ever since its mixed reception on Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, the talented guys at Naughty Dog have been ever so quiet. And rightly so, they\'re smart developers who like to keep things secret until the time is right. Although not everyone agrees on whether Jak and Daxter was a success (seeing as how it performed less than stellar sales wise), most people assume that the Santa Monica, Ca-based developer is working hard on another Jak and Daxter title. Having built its own proprietary engine from scratch and now in the position to transform it into an even more powerful platforming springboard, Naughty Dog should do another one in that series?right?

Well, while we can\'t say for sure, but at least one rumor points to the Sony owned team working on a 3D action-adventure game that is said to resemble Rockstar\'s Grand Theft Auto series. Sounds ridiculous, we know, but that\'s why it\'s here in the rumor column. Still, stranger things have happened. Before Crash Bandicoot\'s success, Naughty Dog created the FMV fighting game Way of the Warrior on 3DO, not to mention several other entirely non-platform-related titles. So, why not make something different? The one thing we know for sure is that anything can happen.
Man.. if BookerT lit a fart during a Spinner-oony.. it truely would be the most electrifying move ever..

Too hypothetical but not impossible. One thing is for sure.Naughty Dog is still here and we can expect games from them.Lets expect something unique or revolutionary.
Naughty Dog is known to bring great games. They gave us superb graphics and fun with Crash that pushed the PS1 to its limits and introduced us JandD with huge worlds with absence of loading times and great animation. The first project for PS2.
Nice firts effort.
I can only expect greater things from them now.

We all know naughty dog can deliver quality titles whatever their genre. Whatever their next creation is I guess it will be pretty good.

Why expect that when they have never delivered that before ? As much as I love the Crash series, it was hardly revolutionary and the same for J&D.

Crash wasnt revolutionary.Never said so.Graphicallly though it was kind of for a 32-bit game.Neither j&d.Technically it was though. In some degree.
But why not? They have always made a great job in games. From great developers u can always expect.
Even Sony which werent into game development as much as Sega,Nintendo etc until recently delivered original titles like ICO.Why not Naughty Dog?

I didn\'t say they wouldn\'t make a great game. You said to expect something revolutionary and I simply pointed out that Naughty Dog does make good games, but they are hardly revolutionary games - though my techincal merits alone, they\'re pretty damn impressive.

I have no doubt that whatever they put out will be graphically impressive, but I also figure that it will be a simple clone of whatever is out there. That seems to be Naughty Dog\'s way of thinking, even back in 3DO days, with \'Way of the Warrior\'. Techincally, it was sort of impressive , but at the heart it was just another fighting game (not a very good one at that).

My point? Naughty Dog is a good developer, but hardly a top developer. They\'re Sony\'s version of Rare. They take their time making a game. It comes out, it\'s beautiful, but it seems like you\'ve been there before and that\'s because you have been there before...countless amounts of times.

I agree with u that they never offered a game with revolutionary gameplay. But there are the chances they will.Sony offered not so great games for PS1 but original AAA titles for PS2 even if they are new into game development. So why not from Naught Dog which are more experienced and showed they can do wonderfull things?
I just have my hopes one day they will.

Jax & Daxter sold well around 900,000 units worldwide and Chris Deering the president of Sony Europe has said the sequel is in development,  but I remember a list of secret games sony has in development and it said Naughty Dog have 2 games in development so maybe they have that sort of game on the go.

J&D2 is being made, and expect it to be even better looking than the original.

I don\'t want a Grand Theft Auto 3 clone.

They should hand the Syphon Filter series over to them.

I have no doubt that J&D 2 will be better looking than the original.

If they\'re making a new franchice I hope it\'s more action oriented. An action adventure with a bad-ass character and alot of guns... wait, thats been done before.

Damn, I can\'t think of any new ideas for a game...
