Finnially a contest that has Decent odds :)

MS is giving people a chance to win a watch when they buy a xbox.

"The watch is apparently part of a summer campaign to push the Xbox in Japan, with five hundred lucky punters set to win one of the limited edition timepieces from stores that are part of the Game Retailers Association. The contest will run at some 1,500 stores across Japan between this weekend and September 1st, with anyone who buys an Xbox console or game able to enter"

so.. lets do some quick fun math :)
500 watches to give away

7 Weeks for the contest
3,500 xboxes sold a week

for a total of 24,500 entries (assuming it does not sell worse then it is right now)
for a 0.2% chance of winning a watch!

Now thats also assuming that every store is part of the game retailers association and is not being bought by MS to keep numbers up.
The number could very well be 1%!

EDIT: Well on 2nd thought, since games work too (I misread it) it probably levels back down to .2% ohh well, still decent odds.

Incredible huh?

wasn\'t quite able to follow your maths, but are they at least decent watches? :) Perhaps a cool Omega or Rado watch? A Rolex would do the job too I guess... If they had this thing here in europe.. dunno, I might get one.. tehe :)

Wow, wouldn\'t having to buy something to win be illegal in most states in the US?

and the funny thing is that the winners will keep the watch and then use the EMPTY X box Case as a House EXTENTION ;)

Oooh, a stinking watch!  Something you wear on your wrist for a few months and then breaks.  Japanese are smarter than this, they wont fall for M$ sales gimmicks. Atleast it\'s not as bad as Sega giving away dreamcasts for sighing up to they\'re internet service.
It\'s only funny until someone gets hurt...then it\'s hillarious.

Hell I\'d buy an Xbox for a chance to own a ...but wait what if the watch crashes will MS send you a new one or will you have to call their customer service to get the parts fixed...

What a stupid thread...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
