PS2 Gaming Online
« on: August 29, 2002, 07:22:05 AM »
I am dissappointed to hear that there will be a lot of the new games available for only online play. I am a long time video gamer and really enjoy my games. However, that will probably change when the games start going online. I like to just sit down and play games without having to worry about being online or paying extra fees to play them. I find that the games cost enough as it is, but I understand that there will be a fee for playing online in addition. I find this very unfair to the long time gamers.
My suggestion is, dont put the games online, and if you do, make it so that you can play online only if you feel that you want to, otherswise, the games should also be able to be played in full offline.
I also find it unfair that in order to play these games online, you have to spend a lot more money. These video game systems are expensive enough without all the extra expenses.
any comments welcome

Err SOCOM is single player and multiplayer.  You DON\'T have to have the adapter to play it.  You can even use the headset in single player via voice recognition.

Also, online gaming is the future of consoles.  Percentage wise, the number of "online only" games will be very low compared to those that are both or just single player.  To say that they shouldn\'t make online games is taking a ludite approach to gaming.  Sort of reminds me of when some people became upset that companies were making games on CD\'s instead of carts...

yeah, Im sure that most games that are online now are single and multiplayer.  TMB, SOCOM, TH3, That would be crazy for the gaming companies do make a shift like that.  There will ALWAYS be single player games.  Not everyone can afford broadband.  They would lose too much money if they did that.

geog669 experts and researchs say that the future of videogames is the online gameplay... I must admit that online experience didn\'t like me time ago, but after watching nice online games and play them, the online games rock as single ones.

It really just depends on the game. As online gaming grows in popularity, there will eventually be games that will only make sense in an online environment, that wouldn\'t be fun for single player play, but there will always be tons of single player games out there, too. I wouldn\'t worry about not having single player games, there will continue to be plenty.
