HD attached to the Network Adapter?

Ok.. I just got my Network adapter tonight, and I noticed how the lower portion looks alot like a Power and SCSI connections! :-)  So, does this mean I only have to plug a drive in? Has anyone done this? Can I do it without special mounting hardware?  Is there a specific drive from sony, or should I just plug anything in?

This is a US NTSC device... As we all know, we are held back :-(

well from what ive heard there is no official deal yet

but from speculation and word of mouth going round here is that sony might let people buy thrid party hdd\'s as to save on the cost because they would be cheaper since other companies can produce them quicker and cheaper

if sony makes it themselves they have to pay someone else to make it or spend moolah on a factory - therefore making the hdd more expensive to make

so in time you may be able to buy a hdd from a store if its compatible

well, the connections are there... I haven\'t looked though the installer software yet, but I believe to make it happen I would need...

1. Network adapter
2. SCSI drive (Half stack)
3. Software to format and reconize the drive

The real question is:  Are these things in place, and do I need a hard drive mout for this?  What\'s up Japan, they must already have these things?

yea they can buy the actual ps2 hdd from sony we on the other hand arent so lucky and the software is not their because the hdds you buy from places today arent gonna support formatting and partioning for PS2

just wait till around christmas or maybe a little later and then we will see what happens - even if you found some way to put in a hdd no game will take advantage of it nor will you be able to save your games to it since it wont detect it

I live in Norway and I have the network adapter and the harddisk.
The reason I have this already is because I have bought the PS2 Linux kit. When the package arrived it carried a broadband (TCP) only network adapter, 40GB HD, Sony keyboard and mouse. Everything was packed in their original packaging so my guess it\'s exactly the same hardware they *might* release later as part of their broadband service. The only thing I don\'t have i the software to install & mount the HD. The HD came in a red box with the ledders HDD on it. The other hardware came in their own boxes as well...

BTW:
* The haddisk is IDE and NOT SCSI.
* It has a propretairy interface, so you CAN\'T use a standard IDE drive
