I just thought this was pretty cool.  This is on a 12 Cylinder BMW M8.

THey have a coin standing upright on the motor while it\'s running.  They turn the motor off and on and rev it and the coin never falls.  Pretty solid.

ahh, the good old 12 cylinder, least vibration of any internal combustion engine configuration...or at least to the extent of my knowledge.

What really sucks is how the 8 series is no longer in production and the fact that the M8 was never mass produced. ONly one is known to exist and orders were given for it to be destroyed. Dont know if that ever happend though.

If you were to shell out the cash for a V12 would you really settle for a BMW?  :)

from what I understand, it\'s not the idea of more cyclinders = a smoother ride, it\'s more of the balance of the engine, and the v12 does it better than others.

I know BMW makes excellent engines but I\'d go for something more exotic than a beamer (the V12 in that car might even be made by BMW :)).  The reason the more cylinders = more smoothness is because the explosions are closer timed together.  No 2 cylinders go off at the same time, so there\'s less gap in between combustion.

The 1001hp V16 in the new Bugatti should *in theory* run even smoother than BMW\'s V12s but I can\'t be too sure since it\'s also pushed by quad turbos.
