1. You\'re right, porting would get you to places much quicker.  And The PoP portals would do it even faster.  But that doesn\'t change the fact that I think seperate banks are a dumb idea.

2.  EQ runs like shit, plain and simple.  I\'m assuming you group with other people, and don\'t try to solo it to 65.  A couple groups on screen casting spell effects and what not will slow down pretty bad.  The particle engine in the game is horrible.  The code is a sloppy mess.  They can\'t patch the game to fix things without breaking others things.

Have you ever been on a raid?  Or how about the ring wars in The Great Divide?  Hell, even just running around looking for a camp in Sebilis or Karnor\'s. The game slows down unless you look at a floor or a wall.  But what fun is that?  Have you ever been the the Bazaar?  That has got to be the worst case of slowdown I have ever seen in a game.

You ever wonder why people didn\'t flock to the Luclin zones to get exp?  They run like crap.

And FYI, no, I don\'t have a 300Mhz PC.  It\'s a 1.2GHz Athlon TBird w/ 512MB RAM and a 64MB Radeon8500.  I don\'t know about you, but I think that\'s pretty decent.  Sure it\'s not the latest, but still, it\'s pretty far about what the recommended system requirements were for Luclin, besides the RAM, which is equal.  Hell, at the time I bought Luclin I had 768MB of RAM, but I had a slot go out recently, so I had to take off 256MB.

Oh well... it doesn\'t really matter.  You have your opinion, and I have mine.  IMO EQ\'s day\'s are numbered.  It\'s going down the john, fast.  If EQ2 takes off where the original started it\'s only going to catre to the power gamer, the kind of person who pays for the ridiculous Legends server, and the kind of people who have 3 or 4 accounts to power level themselves up.  Not even EQ2\'s beautiful graphics can save it.  Of course, this is all IMO, no need to jump down my throat again.

Yes, I have raided everything in all expansions up to velious, and most of the stuff in luclin. Not played the game since January, so how it is now with the new spell effects and stuff, I have no clue about. But as it was untill luclin, the game ran perfect. I have never experienced lag in any zones, except bazaar when it is crowded. But I can agree that after luclin, eq is not as cool as it was before, since the mixture between the new engine and the old seems kinda weird + adding ghey VT key quest that takes forever to complete. EQ was at its best when Velious was released, doing NTov for first time etc is just incredible fun. Now the game`s engine is just too old to impress me enough to keep playing. Half the fun with a new zone is the layout and to see new mobs. As for EQ2, it sounds like eq all over again, and thats what I want. A new eq, Im sure someone had enuff with the 1st one, but as for me.. I cant wait :)

Btw Nataku, what server did u play on ?

I played on Ayonae Ro.  I quit about 4 or 5 months ago.  Should have left sooner... I really only stuck around after Luclin because of friends I made in the game, and because of the time I spent on my bard.

I agree, its a great game and even though Im tired of it now, it took me years before I became tired. Now I can look back and I know I have played one of the greatest games ever made (my humble opinion).
But, what is a battlecleric ?
Solo is boring after lvl 50 and yes, bard is one of the best solo classes. But I would rather go for Necro as for soloing. And nothing beats the duo team we had  when we lvled for aa exp at 60. Me as Mage and one from the guild as Necro :)

I never said I couldn\'t solo, mm.  I got at least half, if not more, of my bard\'s 55 levels solo.  I loved soloing.

I\'m not saying EQ isn\'t fun. For the 3 years I played I had some great gaming moments.  It was a great experience.  It\'s just recently, with the last two expansions (Luclin and Planes of Power), it\'s gone down hill.  I never did buy or play PoP, so I guess I can\'t pass judement on that expansion, but I read so much about it and it really sounded like it wasn\'t something for me.  High end content was played out... they needed more low and mid content.

Instead of releasing yet ANOTHER expansion, they should have revamped some older zones, made it so people would want to go back to them, IMO.

/me shrugs

I ramble too much.

they have to cater to the high levels toons (PoP) to keep them interested and to keep them paying

a battle cleric is a cleric that didnt sit on thier butt medding and healing for thier 1st 40 levels and solo max\'d thier melee skills

ive seen clerics that can outdamage me,  and thats without dual wield

Ohh before 40 yes, but later on cleric kinda sucks soloing. And if u even mem a nuke as cleric while in group, Im sure more then 1 person will be pissed :)
I found my cleric effective as a solo class up to lvl 20. After that I gained more exp in group as cleric.

I know they have to keep the high level players interested mm, it would just be nice if they could go to old zones and maybe add a couple new mobs and some new, worthwhile drops.

They updated Cazic-Thule, but it was changed to an extrememly high level zone.  It\'s not the high levels that are boring, it\'s the lower and mid levels.

Ah well.  I don\'t play anymore, so I don\'t really care.  Heh.

I wanted to ask people who play in the EQOA beta right now... have you noticed ANY stairs in the game?  I have yet to see a set of stairs... it\'s all steep ramps.  It\'s like they think console gamers can\'t handle stairs or something :P
