What a beast...

Do you like the attached image? Extra good quality eh? Incredible may be the word... And you will be right because it\'s taken with a real beast: the new 11MP (!!) CANON EOS 1D. You heard perfectly, 11 million megapixels. That\'s not obviously the original picture, the taken one by the camera has around 4000x3500 pixels, so you can figure out how the images looks when they\'re printed.



It\'s right now around $8000, so I\'ll still be looking for a cheap Canon G3 You can see (even in real size) more examples, specifications, pics and a deep review here.

You should seriously consider the cheaper ($2,000) Canon digital SLR, the D60.  It\'s a 6.3 megapixel model, with tons of features, and it\'s been very well reviewed.  The No.1 advantage over the G3 you\'re considering is that the D60 accepts every Canon EOS lense out there.  There are some VERY good ones out there.  Resolution is important, but lense quality is equally important or more so.

I know mate, I only posted this camera as an example of how technology advances: 2 years ago, a 2MP camera was a great camera, and somehow expensive. Now you have a 11MP in the street... in 2 years more... ufff..

I\'m more interested in the G3: it\'s the best 4MP available and got excellent reviews. I like the D60, but it\'s very expensive compared to my pocket: no more than €1000. I\'ll probably get the G3, but no till February.

But I do not have 8000.

So it is out of my reach.  Sorry.
