Tray rubbing/grinding noise
« on: February 11, 2003, 04:01:32 PM »
This started last week.  Everytime I close the tray it would make this rubbing/grinding noise.  The rubbing starts when the tray is like 3/4\'s closed.

It doesnt make the noise when the tray is opening though.

Anyone else exp this??  Thanks!!

You could try ejecting the tray and then turning the ps2 over (whilst tray open) and applying,
in a very small amount, some lubricant (oil or grease) to the tray runners and gear strip.

Apply as little as you can as you could cause a build up, and create more problems. i\'d say grease would be better.

Yep, i suppose so.. Spray some WD into a bottle cap or something then dip in a cotton bud
then apply it to the tray using the cotton bud

you may only need to dip the bud once.. it should be enough.
