MY probebly biased review of Xenosaga ! :P
« on: February 28, 2003, 08:29:16 AM »
Ive played alot of RPG\'s in my life ! and the frist one i started with was seven saga wich i loved greatly ! my second one , FF2 ( ff4 in JP ) after that i was hooked ! so you can guess that from that time to the present i have played alot alot and alot of RPG,s ! So here is my 5 hours into the game impressions !

Story : Altough ive only been playing the game for 5 hours the story is really picking up and intriguing ! Some of you might think that it starts slow but beleive me it picks up and all i can say is that the story in this game has a bright future . It seams to me like the story will be better then any other Final Fantasy ive ever played . ( If you talk to everyone , there is alot of jokes wich lightens the game )

Graphics :  Ok these graphics are one year old and i still think they are awesome. The characters have lots of detail and polygones and the feelings of being on a space ship is really there . The inbattle sequences are stuning with briliant effects and bright color . One thing i can complain about the game are that in some sequence there are jaggies but i learned to look over them .

Gameplay : Ok everyone has been saying that this game is heavy in cutcenes . Well guess what , its true , but its also perfect ! I truly love it , you grow to love Shion and Allen and the cutcenes really bring the game to life . Most importantly , the cutcenes don\'t boring wich is something i really really appreciate :)   For tthe Fighting sequence all i can say is that it is really really complicated and i love it ! its gonna take me a little more time to get used to it but it really is something you can look forward to . <

Music : Main complain : No music when your walking around . WELL WHO GIVES A **** . The sound effects truly make up for the lack of music while walking around that it dfoes not bother me at all . ( probebly because i hate being in a dungeons that has horrible music and your stuck with it ) . The music comes in during the cutcenes and wow its really something . I wouldn\'t call it a masterpeice like FF2 but its damn close .

Final impressions : WOW WOW WOW ! THANK YOU NAMCO FOR LETTING MONOLIGHT DO WHAT THER WANTED WITH THIS GAME AND MAKING ME THE HAPPIEST GAMER IN HELL :)  BUT WITH A STORY LIKE THAT , IM SURE IM NOT GONNA BE ADMITED IN HEAVEN .

hope this helped a bit !

Difficulty?
I\'ve read in more than a few places that the game can be very tough...especially around bosses.

Do the enemies level up with you?

Can you go into more detail about the battle system?

Well , its really complicated , like there are a certain number of points by turn ( ala Chrono cross ) you chose wich attack you want to do but you have to concider the number of points you have ! also there is a boost that i have wet to understand that makes you char play before the monster ( its sorta like a limit break but you boost a player instead ) you can have critical hit % go up , and alot of other things , but you got to watch out because the enemi can also have those ! then there is the mech that you can call in ...  you really got to play it to understand !

ask me certain question and i might be able to answer because right now i can\'t think of what to say :(

If you had never played Xenogears, would the story still make sense?

I never played Xenogears !! :crying:  when it came out my mom did not want me to play it because it was about religion ! so ive been looking for it for a while but ill play it soon ! after xenosaga ! and yes the story is pretty much seperate since its not in the same series !

If you by action RPG you meen something like DArkcloud where you run around and slash at things then no its not ! its a turn based RPG  !

Yes and no.  There is an element in Xenogears which is present in Xenosaga and eventually, you will make the connection.  Although you do not need to know it.  It would just make you feel special when you make this connection because Xenosaga is sopposed to be a preqel to Xenogears.
