Saddam alive?

Quote
The Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, has appeared on state television to tell the people of Baghdad to strike enemy forces around the capital.

He mentioned that helicopter which was "shot down" by the farmer. So if that’s not Saddam’s look-alike he was at least alive after the chopper had been downed.

I wonder why they used a such "old" video? Is he not in Baghdad anymore?

Also when he said "strike enemy forces around the capital"

I though Saeed said they where no where NEAR Baghdad? That everything was made up like in the movie, Wag the dog? Hmm ;)

I haven\'t seen the video.  I\'m at work, but I heard on the radio that he is reading off of a note pad.  He looks very undicatorish because it\'s so distracting looking down at the notepad.  It\'s kind of hard to rile up your troops if you lose your place in your speach.

Anyway, haven\'t heard anything regarding whether it\'s truly him or not yet.

Don\'t they realize you never put your subject in front of a white wall?  That\'s what I hate about these dictatorships.  They just don\'t know how to shoot good press conferences.

That set in Qatar is sweet with plasma screens, studio lighting, etc.  We know how to look good, and we all know that it\'s better to look good than to feel good. And you look marvelous.

They wanted that white wall to blow out the image... so you can\'t tell it\'s a double.

In a way I hope he is still alive. I want us to drag him out of a bunker. I don\'t want a guessing game like Usama.

I don\'t want him to be alive.  I want him to just be dead and get this thing over with.

I agree, but if there is any doubt there will likely be more fighting because of that doubt.

Are they sure it\'s him, now? I would find that amazing that he would have balls that big to walk outside.

I agree.  I\'d be shocked as hell to see him outside.

Having not seen the video is it possibly to be from 1991?

My editor here said he saw it and the video looked pretty old and that it could actually be from 1991.  It\'s pretty hard to tell if video is old when all the video looks like crap.  In the states you can tell if something is more than even 2 years old because there are so many advancements in both lenses and the chips.

It would have been funny if he put a big cardboard picture of Paris or something in the background (make it look like a window view. Like on the talk shows), instead of that white wall :)
