GM apologizes for print ads
« on: April 02, 2003, 03:19:01 PM »
Automotive News reported that GM apologized last week for this ad mocking public transportation.  A spokesman said "The ads will never see the light of day again."

Well, I\'m not sure what they\'re apologizing for.  I take the bus to work every day, and I think they\'re right!  I don\'t use public transportation for the stunning social interaction; I use it because it\'s unbelievably cheaper than parking in downtown Los Angeles.  By the way, another version of the ad featured the sign "Wet Dog Smell."

Its pretty clever, but I can see why local governments would get pretty pissed off. Its takes alot time and money to invest into public transportation, and then to have one of the largest automotive giants to tell everyone it sucks, then i\'d be pissed too.

But still, riding the bus to work and college is alot cheaper and easier then driving.

And thats a really ugly car.

If I were the govt. I\'d just release some falseafide reports of how dangerous GM vehicles were, and that only homo\'s drove them.

soul, you think melbourne has problems? try riding the train from central station to cleveland... or catching a bus in the valley after 10 at night.

You can\'t even imagine what the bus is like in Buffalo. Wall to wall ghetto, fistfights, craps games, peeps throwing shit out the windows. Sprinkle in the occasional screaming "special person". I was on a city line bus once, and it picked up from an east side high school. We got 4 blocks and the driver pulled over, radioed HQ, and quit. He told them to come and get their bus. I was stranded in the hood on a busload of miscreants for an hour.
That\'s when I decided that I was not cut out for mass transit.

I\'d never ride the busses here.  It\'s the dregs of society.  It\'s not like Marta in Atlanta, or the NYC Subway.  It\'s just the dirty people.  Plus it takes you an hour and a half and two transfers to get somewhere that could easily take you 10 minutes.
