I got in for the last day of E3, and attended FanFest right afterwards. It was my first time at an E3, so... Quite an experience for me.
I won\'t front... I spent pretty much
all of my time in Microsoft\'s booth, due to me getting there so late(Only around 3 hours left of E3...) It was huge, the largest floorspace at E3. And there was plenty to keep me entertained. I tried out Crimson Skies, Steel Battalion Online, Brute Force, Conker, a whole lot of Soul Calibur 2(I was ownin\', folks. Switchin\' up characters even. But Kilik > Everyone), HALO PC, PGR2(Looks great, still a small step behind GT4 though), VIII(Bleeding style, guys), got to watch Voodoo Vince... And last, but not least, I got to see the HALO 2 demo in action.
When E3 was nearing a close and I saw almost everything I wanted to see at the South Hall, I rushed to the West to see if I could check out GT4... I was a bit late.
I
did see J&D 2 though, which is hands down the most visually impressive platformer around at the moment. It still looked like Jak had no contact with ground... Which was a minor complaint of mines against the first game. Also, caught a glimpse of the new Onimusha, that has a character that looks
exactly like French actor
Jean Reno.
When I returned to the South Hall, everyone was leaving, and geeks were already lining up for the FanFest, so I posted on the steps waiting for the Bungie guys to start calling us in... About an hour later, they started lining us up and giving us details. Discover Channel camera crew was around filming the Bungie guys and us in the line for a documentary on HALO 2 that will be shown later on. I was in line for about 45 minutes(Bungie didn\'t have things perfectly organized, it seems. Understandable though, this was their first FanFest in the Convention Center). I was one of the first groups who got to see the Blue ticket showing of the HALO 2 demo(the first group. And yes, I got to watch the demo in the theatre twice.
). It was the same, \'cept the introduction showed the Sarge cussin\' out Jim(Bungie employee playing the demo), and briefing the crowd. It was quite funny. When the demo started, Jim seemed a bit slower when playing. But I did get some better views of that Covenant tank that was messing shit up and got bombed by those Longswords. Also, we got to see the stealth peeking around corners feature, which wasn\'t shown on any of the other showings, I believe. Also, this was the first time the Revert To Save feature was shown. The AI Marine ran over a Banshee Jim destroyed and flipped over.
\'sides that, it was the same... Oh yeah, the Discovery Channel folks were there filming the crowds reaction to the demo and all, I\'m pretty sure I got a nice spot in there somewhere.
Afterwards, lots of HALO Xbox LAN games were setup, Bungie Store adjacent to the HALO 2 theatre, food and beverages to the north of the MS booth, big screen showing all the episodes of Red vs Blue(including a new one made \'specially for E3... Not as funny as I was hoping it would be.), and HALO PC on the far South. A couple of other Xbox game demos were still running. Including Crimson Skies, Soul Calibur 2, Conker, and 2 other new Xbox games that I\'ve forgotten... They looked pretty good though. After a while, Bungie Q&A started up with the Discovery Channel guys filming the first couple of questions(They didn\'t get around to me... I could\'ve had a great lil\' close up on TV.
It just went on like that, lots of HALO PC, Soul Calibur 2, and HALO Xbox the rest of the night. I got to hump Fran Reyes\'(From the Official Xbox Magazine) leg, and she enjoyed it.
got a picture of Cortana signed by Jen Taylor(voice of Cortana, Princess Peach, and lots of other videogame characters), and got to chat it up with Joe Staten, Jason Jones, and Marty O\'Donnel.
I was only there for like half a day, but E3 was
great! Next year, I\'m going to plan things a lil\' bit better so that I\'ll be able to attend all 3 days, and hopefully, I\'ll be able to see more of my online friends there.
I\'m attaching my FanFest ID and HALO 2 theatre ticket... And if I hear any cracks about my name, I\'m going to maul you.
