The formula is simple. If you were a CHILD during the 80s, you probably liked it. Most people seem to have fond memories of childhood, unless you are Karl Childers from "Sling Blade."
If you were in high school or later during the 80\'s, and you are sane, then you hated it. There are always the legions of insane people who\'s lives stopped in high school, and still consider it the pinnacle of their existence. I\'m not one of those.
I graduated high school in 1985, so I\'m qualified to say this: The 80s SUCKED. HARD. There were so many bad things about it. I\'m going to mention just one that I know mm will relate to.
Every major movie studio decided in the 80s that they should switch to movie scores composed and performed on synthesizers. Orchestral scores were too expensive, and too "uncool" at the time, so we now have to deal with a whole generation of films with shitty scores. Yes, most of these are hollywood fecal matter anyway, but some otherwise worthwhile films were cursed by this as well. There are so many examples, but here\'s one. Try to see "Legend" with the Jerry Goldsmith score rather than the crappy Tangerine Dream score from the US release. It is immensely better. If you hated that film at the time, you might find yourself suddenly liking it. That\'s how big a difference it makes.
