Does anyone know if a Linksys Ethernet hub will allow me to go online with both the PC and PS2, or do I need to buy a router???

I\'m currently trying to do the same thing you are, hooking my ps2 to my computer\'s internet connection through my hub.  So far my computer will recognize my ps2 but my settings are off and I can\'t get online yet.  Automatic setup dosen\'t work for me, and with manual I don\'t really know what i\'m doing.  Interesting to see if somebody can/has made this setup work.

If you\'re ISP is only allowing you 1 IP address you will need to masquerade both your PS2 and your comp.

DSL it works just fine.

Cable, you either need a router or you need to call the cable company and by another IP address.  Router is cheaper though.

Ok, I returned the HUB that I purchased, and got a router (Linksys BEFSR41)

Now, Do I need to do anything so that Comcast doesn\'t see the PS2?, or am I OK with the router the way it is?

I\'m having the same problem... I have SBC Yahoo! DSL, and my Mac is setup with only an ID and PW. With a router I branched off to my PS2. I ran setup and it asked for my DSL ID and PW but no internet connection found. I don\'t get it... Anyone?

Proper configuration
   DSL/Cable Modem
          ||
       Router
||                    ||
PC                PS2

If a password needs to be supplied, it should be configured on the router.
DHCP should be enabled on the router if you plan on using the automatic setup option.  No passwords will be needed on the PC or PS2

If you want to host a game ,you\'ll need to forward a couple of ports to the PS2.  Check online FAQs - I don\'t recall them offhand.

Unlike the X-Box in System Link mode, the PS2 ALWAYS grabs an IP address when using the BBA.  This is why you need the router.

Also, read the Taking The PS2 ONLINE stick y thread at http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24136

You may need a different type of ethernet cable.  My friend has dsl and he had the same problem until he switched out his cable for the correct kind.  I think it was a cross-over.
