Konami announced today Silent Hill is going to be a movie. Everyone wants to be in the movies, but perhaps making a movie of this nature might just be too damn scary. In which case, we\'re in.....

I hope this doesnt end up like the Resident Evil movie.Or the Tomb Raider movie.Or the Mortal Combat movie.Or the Super Mario movie.Or the Street Fighter movie.Or the.........Well you get the picture.

However there are some things that make me feel oprimistic about this movie:

a)Konami Corporation will work closely with Gan\'s production team, b)overseeing the script development, c)participating in monster, d)creature and character designs, e)and contribute to the film\'s soundtrack composition.

Way to make a point and stick to it.

Here\'s my non wishy washy thought.

It will suck..

Here is the kopking version (With proper spelling and a shift key)

It will probably suck, but it could be good.

Of allllllllllllll the games to movies made (which isn\'t much), the only one that I enjoyed were Resident Evil (and I said I enjoyed it. I didn\'t say it was a great movie), and Tomb Raider (same critia as the Resident Evil movie. Enjoyed it, but not a great movie). Final Fantasy too but this one isn\'t really based on any games, just the name was taken from the games. Haven\'t seen Mortal Kombat, but my understanding is, its at least in the same league as Resident Evil which means, like it or really hate it. None have ever been truely great at the moment (Resident Evil: Apocolypes looks promising, House of the Dead looks stupid [trying to recreate that B-movie feel apparently with mixed results], and Alone in the Dark...well, it has some big names in it...but thats not saying much since the movie could still suck [Street Fighter had some big names in its day, and it sucked big time]).

As for Silent Hill movie, so far, with Konami having a ton of control, and a director that looks like he knows what he is doing (granted, I haven\'t seen Brotherhood of the Wolfs, but I have heard positive things about this movie), the movie does sound promising.
Opinions are not important.

Personally, i enjoyed the Super Mario, Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy and tomb raider movies. Atcually i even enjoyed the wing commander movie despite its corniness. The whole enjoyment factor is the same case as Sim for most of them. House of the dead sounds gay and Im not so sure about this one. There havent been any truely scary movies in ages and not a good vid movie in a while as well ( i never saw TR2 but heard it wasnt so great). Hovefully this one will achieve what the rest havent but my hopes arent to high on that one.

yea but unlike the other game to films, sh has a very strong storyline in the game, and would be easier to bring across imo

And Konami will work closely with the production team.Which that means....No lame Rambo style characters a la resident evil, a plot very close the the games\' style, probably music made from the same guy that made the music for the games, and monsters a la konami style. And I hope for a 18+.

Well see this could very well make it more difficult because if they follow too closely to such a detailed story line then the shock and or awe factor of the story will be very minimal to the gaming audience that has already played the games. Not only that but since they are working with the team then they really want to make something in the SH world as apposed to some offshoot directors interpretation of the series (wich he or she has not played of course). It could lead to great things but we dont know yet. Its a double edged sword i guess.
