U.S death toll in Iraq still rising, one GI per day..

Link: Death toll for American soliders averaged at one per day in Iraq, even after Saddam\'s capture..

Thoughts? I find it odd that now that Saddam has been captured and the war is "over" the news no longer reports the fact we are still losing men and women every day in Iraq. How many are going to remain faceless, before we realize this was a really bad idea?

The only people who think it\'s a bad idea are the ones that have lost loved ones.  I\'m not supporting the war.  It\'s more of a statement of how apathetic/uninformed the general public is about the matter.  The only ones that really see the true nature of the war are the ones that have lost someone.
Wrong. There are two other people who can.

My dad told me that this religious leader of 85% of Iraq is telling the Iraqis to vote for him, and they are sure he will be just as bad as Saddam (if not worse) The people look at him as a god.

:crap:

The figure that Vivi is trying to refer to in his flailing way is.

Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani

Quote

Shia Muslims in show of power

Tens of thousands of Shia Muslims in the southern Iraqi city of Basra have taken part in a demonstration against American plans for the future government.

They are calling for the new national assembly to be chosen in direct elections, not selected indirectly as the US proposes.

This was a call to America to sit up and listen.
The majority Shia population has emerged from under the oppression of the previous regime and want a major role in the future of Iraq.
Mobilised by top Shia cleric Ayatollah Saeed Ali Hakim, tens of thousands rallied outside his mosque in Basra on Thursday.
Waving banners and flags they chanted: "No to America, yes to Iraqis."

Jasim Mousa, a fourth year student at Basra University said if required he would fall on his sword to protect his country.
"We will defend our rights and our Islamic rights to represent Iraqis," he said.

p.s.

One US KIA per day...

I wonder what the Iraqi civilian rate is...

i think the death toll is past 500. it\'s unfortunate as you all know where i stand as far as the war is concerned, but i still support our troops. eventually i assume we will win the peace but at a high death toll. How can you fight an enemy that\'s not afraid to die?..where americans soldiers..yes they are brave..but alot of them are not these rambo, commando type cats that don\'t care.

alot have families they want to come home to and are not trying to die on the battlefield.
knowledge, wisdom & understanding..these are the basic fundamentals of life

if you can\'t amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t....
