Asia PS2 and Japanese PS2

So I\'m looking at getting a PS2 to play import games on, but Im confused on this part.

I see the Asia PS2 plays Japanese and Asian verision games

and the Japanese PS2 only plays Japanese version games (well duh)

Is there any difference? Are they the same thing?

I see the J PS2 runs off of a 110V, and the A PS2 runs off a 220V.

You would probably get more answers in the Main Forum...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Well i dont know how to help you, but i did always like these ps2\'s. The first time i saw the ps2 stand with the oldschool HDD i wanted it so bad. Looks almost menacing dont you think?;)

First of all: I understand this forum to be a place where you can get the latest news and help about your PS2 concerns. BUT this forum has a strict policy when it comes to illegal things, so this one is a bit tricky and I´ve spoken to one of the Mods regarding this special case.

Now for your question:
To buy a new PS2 for playing import games on it, is just a huge waste of money. You have to buy a new console (and maybe a power converter) and some other new stuff.
There are other ways to "modify" your console so it will play ALL import games from Asia or Japan. Let me add one last thing here: To do this is in no way illigal, but you can do illegal things with it ! So it´s up to you to stay on the right side or not...

Please don´t ask any more questions here regarding this "modification".

If you still want to buy a new console, I would buy the asian one. On the page it says: Asian version, unmodified running Japanese & Asian version games only !

Have fun ! :)

I wouldnt want to "mod" the ps2, I believe I wouldnt be able to log into the DNAS servers then. So this is really my only other option.

With that said, I think I\'ll go with the Asia one, but I\'m going to need a power converter for the 220V? yes?

Thanks for the info Eye :)

You are right about the servers !!! I forgot about that... Very good !!!

As I understand it right you don´t need the converter as it is only for 110V to 220V ?!? But I´m not sure...
